Stuck in parking lot

    came out of store turned key and got a click. Nothing turning over

    Door open light lights up and security lifht flashes. Checked battery terminals nice and tight and clean.any ideas

    Battery age never a definite determiner of health. Several have had original battery replaced as early as 1 year. Hopefully it jumps and you can have it tested and replaced if needed.

    Jump did not work but it did light up the dash and clicked a little. Im guessing the battery is done

    A dead cell in the battery will cause your symptoms. That can happen anytime. Don't skimp on a battery if you don't want that to happen in the future. A good quality AGM battery is worth it's weight in gold. Odyssey makes a good one but you can always go back with Toyota OEM.

    OK a jump from tundra to tundra did not work. Toyota Road service arrived and with a jump box it started. Drove 8 miles home turned it off and tried to start nothing. The battery gauge showed 14 volts on the ride home.

    I have an appointment at the dealer for tomorrow morning. Gonna take the battery out and up to auto zone to have it tested today. I cant imagine the alternator is bad so soon.

    I'm thinking your alternator is good. Do you have a multimeter? If you do with engine running be careful and put positive DMM lead on alternator red positive and DMM negative to chassis ground, not alternator ground. Alternator should be indicating 14 volts ideally. Below 13 a bad sign above 15 not real good either.

    Heard quirky things about dealers and batteries. Seems if warranted, they have to have truck and battery, and they need to install. They may not just give you a battery.

    Maybe should have drove straight there.

    yeah thought about that, but had groceries that needed to get home, should have dropped them off left it running and then drove to Toyota. I am gonna take the battery now to the auto parts store to be tested. I can always call Toyota roadside assistance (free with my extended warranty) to jump me in the morning and take the whole truck. Just a pain in the ass

    Replace the battery. Most "new" OEM batteries are junk. They've been sacrificed to the weight saving gods as manufacturer's literally chase iddy biddy bits of weight savings to tell the guvmunt they've done all they can to achieve compliance with the guvmunt MPG mandates.

    Battery may have died all of the sudden. I had this happen once on my 2000 Tacoma. Left work stopped got gas. then stopped at a store. Came out would not start. Battery just all of the sudden went bad.

    Thanks to al who have offered info here today.

    Took the battery in for testing it was dead. Called Toyota they advised because I was out of factory warranty the battery was no longer covered. I replaced the battery and all appears back to normal. I guess mentally I could not grasp a two year old truck needing a battery, but lets face it nothing is made today like it used to be, so we are done here.

    Went to Lowe's and got 15 pieces of lumber and 40 pavers (12" x 12"). Came out, went to start my truck and......nothing. My truck was dead, no juice. I drove there with no issues 15 mins prior and nothing was draining the battery. Any idea what the deal is? Are there sensors in the bed that shut the truck down if the payload is too heavy?
