Question for those that installed the TRD rear sway on a stock SR5 suspension, did you have the same responsiveness that is talked about on the forums? I can definitely tell the truck takes turns like it's on rails. However on the straight away I feel like the ride is rougher, not crazy but just enough to make it feel off. Almost like it is skipping.

And looking at the tires something is off or I'm taking turns way too fast now! Haha. See attached pics. I also noticed a bulge in my tire I have to talk to the dealership about.

Stock sr5 here and I feel it stiffened up the truck a lot in the turns, much more stable. Ride comfort will get a little more harsher, but honestly I cannot tell.

I feel a little stiffer, cornering lean greatly reduced.

The sway bar is limiting your rear suspensions travel so yes it does stiffen up the ride a bit. You might notice a little more bed bounce as well if going over rough roads. However, the positives generally outweigh the negatives which is why so many are running them. If you start using the truck Offroad more, most will recommend to remove the sway bar.

Oh and the tire is most likely not related. I would definitely take it to a tire shop to be looked at if your are concerned. Blow outs are no fun.

The sway bar only starts to do its job when you get body lean in corners. You take the truck off road and it will limit up/ down travel from one side of truck to the other. Going down a straight road the sway bar has zero affect on straightup/ straight down movement on differential.

The fix for this is to have your wife or GF remove her bra when he gets in to ride in your new and improved Tundra.

This. I noticed immediately that it turned better but it definitely stiffened up the ride and I was hyper focused on it. After a week or two I let it go and now I don't notice. I'll take a slightly harsher ride over riding in the titanic on the curves. Even now I've gotten used to the roll produced even with the sway bar. Can't imagine going back to the jello ride again.

Bulge @2 o'clock. Just sayin.....you need to lose those Duelers...any other tire is better. Exaggerating of course but Duelers won't get you any happiness in life.

I personally didn't like how stiff it made the truck ride, I took the rear one off my sport the 3rd day I had it and like it a lot better. Definitely did help with cornering though.

Already have a guy who has dibs on it but if it falls through I will make a for sale thread for both front and rear TRD sway bars.

Thanks yeah it was starting to drive me crazy, ended up adjusting it to see if it would make a difference. After reading here that no one was experiencing any change in ride made me think I installed it wrong .I'll give it some time and see how it settles in.

Took the truck to the dealership and they said the discoloring was normal because of the tire shine and rain. Also the service manager said the bulge, he said bulge, haha was normal for the tire. Cheap factory installed tires. Booooo. I guess it's time to get some real shoes.

I think I’m pretty in tune with my truck. I really didn’t notice the truck feeling any stiffer. Maybe slightly. But in the corners it was night and day, and completely worth it for me. I was getting bad tire scrub on the outside of the front tires and this almost totally eliminated that. Mind you I came from something that cornerd really well so my driving style was probably not the best when I jumped in this truck. But I did have a sway bar on my previous truck and I loved it too.

Damn this forum. I hadn’t thought about the ride quality in a few months but after reading this thread I was driving on the freeway today and was paying attention to the ride and the rear end is definitely choppier with the bar.

I think some people simply aren’t in tune and don’t notice subtle changes. Or if the roads are bad in their area they may not notice. Living in Florida with pretty smooth roads I noticed immediately the ride was worse in the rear where I was disappointed. It does make it handle better but now I am considering taking it back off to see if I preferred the smoother ride. I held off 2 years on getting the bar in the first place because I wanted the smoothest ride possible.

But, I also don’t like the leaning in the seats feel and it definitely resolved that.

    Ugh. The decisions.

I waited almost a year to get the rear sway bar . My brother in-law just traded in his 16 for a 19 with the sport package that came with the rsb and said he liked it . He was my deciding vote . I picked up mine on eBay with the 15% off and paid 203 shipped .

I have enjoyed it the last 3 days since I installed it . I do notice the rear end is choppier as mentioned above but man it corners better than any other truck I have had . If and when I buy a new tundra I'll take it off and put it on the new one .

Yes!! What he said. Change that. I had this happen three times with Dunlop high end tires on another vehicle (Z rated tires.. not cheap), but yes hitting a pot hole or big bump/stress will cause this. (I downsized my rims effectively getting more sidewall and never had issue again). Integrity of tire compromised. Get yourself some new rubber as suggested above.

I try not to say/write this often, but the guy who said that is normal, is an idiot.

I agree. It's time to get new rubber. I wasnt in the mood to argue with the dealership either. Just more incentive to get some SCS Ray 10s and Falken AT3s.

Call Bridgestone and get their response to the bulge in writing and take it to the dealership. A bulge usually is a result of a torn belt. When you have the answer from Bridgestone, read it to the person who told you it is “normal” and tell this person to stop saying stuff that isn’t true and stop putting others in danger. If that tire blows on the highway, imagine the danger that puts your passengers and other motorists in? Sometimes I am “blown” away by dealerships.

Thanks for all the feedback. So I took a recent trip to Santa Cruz. The sway bar made the truck handle like a champ on the 17. I think she's gonna be a keeper.

Will the installation of the sway bar affect the installation of a set of Firestone bags? Just ordered the Firestone bags to help with towing our new TT and thought the sway bar might be another good idea.
