Noticed this on the 14's Carfax: 12/19/2018 69,461 Dealer Inventory Vehicle offered for sale That's why they're dropping it so much, they've had it in their inventory for a whole season.

Got in late from a dealership and walked away with this: 2015 SR5 w/leather and dealer installed “rear entertainment system” (DVD unit). 2WD. 67xxx miles.
    NADA: $28,500
    Sale before TTL: $25,538

Think I snagged a deal from the stealership?
    Kiddos love it.

NADA doesn't understand 4wd vs 2wd. If you're not wanting 4wd then you should be seeing $2k + discount to 4wd models.

love the white! is that a tan interior?

we are starting search for my wife next vehicle and I assumed she'd like the highlander and pilot. she liked the pilot ok though it was really no different from our Odyssey aside from the stupid transmission. got her to drive a sequoia and was stunned when she said she liked it. she was shocked at the nice turning radius and liked how quiet it was on the road.

bad news for me is the used sequoia is way more expensive than a used pilot. good news is the sequoia can't be beat for interior space particularly second row.

What I don't like about the NADA thing is how consumers are fed KBB/Edmunds/Carfax/TrueCar etc but dealers and banks use NADA.

Yup, it's a tan interior with dark dash/dark lower accents/dark carpet and the plentiful room is unreal. It's insanely quiet and has the power/acceleration of our Tundras. The wifey loves it.

Edit: Of course I'm going to have to do some upgrades/mods to it lol... already eyeing some different wheels and thinking of adding puddle lights to the mirrors for starters..... the wife is rolling her eyes

In my experience, dealers use KBB when you are trading your car into them because it gives them a lower value. When you buy from them, they use NADA since it gives them a higher value, LOL. I have experienced this myself. The only real way to confirm this is to offer them KBB value and when they counter offer, ask them to show you how much they paid for it. Most of the time I have had dealers show me the value, but tell me that they had to do a “dealership safety check” which costs $500 and then some other junk. It’s a pain in the ass, but to be honest it’s the only way to find a used Sequoia. I’m planning on going to a dealership next week to take a look at one. I like to go towards the end of the month to see if they are willing to move on their cars more.

And they wonder why people call them 'stealerships' lol

I am lucky because although they aren't as common around here, there were plenty of used ones and I just had to wait a little before one popped up with some wiggle room on the sale price. Bought mine from a Honda dealer who had it on the lot for 9 days. The extended warranty is hella good and pretty much a Toyota Care plan that includes $100 deductible and came $400 cheaper than a comparable plan with my credit union.

Good luck in your search! Seattle doesn't seem too 'large vehicle' friendly from what I remember.

As much as I want to like this, I think it's just normal, I'd probably just scoop her a 4 Runner...

I tried to talk my wife into a Sequoia, but she's on her 2nd Armada now. Current is a 2015 (not the new body style). It's treated us well so far (only 30K miles on it), but I'd rather have a Sequoia. Maybe next time....:frusty:

Mine was dead set on a Highlander for a while until I showed her that we could get a used Sequoia for a similar price.

I had a Highlander rental from Toyota for a day while they checked out my Cam Tower leak and the Highlander was nice. Much roomier than I expected.

True but with a 4 banger or V6 I'd have a hard time pulling a travel trailer and there's 5 of us - 6 including Magnus, our pittie rescue.

Market here in Seattle is weird. There aren’t many used Sequoias private party. They are all 07 or older, with tons of miles. I will like to upgrade my wife to something newer than her 2010 highlander. Dealerships have 2014 and above, but they are either overpriced or are previous rental cars they bought from auctions. Not what I’m looking for. This 2016 I’m going to look at next week looks decent, but I’m gonna have to battle it out on price. We’ll see how it goes.

What're they asking? How many miles? I'll say this - everything up there is more expensive! My mom lives in Olympia and I freak out when I go grocery shopping with her cause I can't believe what y'all pay for groceries lol

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimgor...y-to-last-for-over-200000-miles/#14a093546a0a

Interesting article (almost a year old now) about the longevity of the Sequoia. "The full-size Toyota Sequoia SUV is not only the model most likely to exceed 200,000 miles, according to a new study, but also among the top candidates to break the 300,000-mile barrier and still have some life left in it."

At a time when a record number of consumers are leasing cars for two or three years at a time, not to mention the sudden interest in subscription-based vehicle plans, it seems more motorists are beginning to treat their rides like mobile phones, turning them in for new ones with increasing regularity.

But there remains a strong number of stalwarts out there who embrace the time-honored concept of long-term ownership. These are the tightwads who will literally drive a car into the ground and wring every last cent out of their automotive investments, with the vehicle’s second owner being the scrap yard.

With regular maintenance and upkeep most any career truck today can be expected to last for far more than 100,000 miles, and even longer provided ongoing repairs to keep it running remain affordable. How about 200,000 miles? Maybe even 300,000 miles – is that possible?

    You bet.

As proof, the statisticians at the automotive website iSeeCars.comhave compiled a list of 10 vehicles that are the most likely to keep on running well past 200,000 miles. The data is based on an analysis of more than 13.5 million used cars sold during 2017 from model years 1981 through 2017. And since this information is based on transactions, one can assume the top-rated models still have considerable life left in them even after racking up all those miles. In fact, five of them boast a small, yet still above average, number of models on the road that have traversed more than 300,000 miles.

Perhaps not surprising, the top 10 list – which we’re featuring in the accompanying slideshow with our own commentary – is dominated by rugged full-size truck-based SUVs, with one passenger car, minivan, and pickup truck each rounding out the list. The Toyota Sequoia SUV leads the pack with 6.6% of all models sold last year running past the 200,000-mile marker. The industry average is 1.2%.

All good vehicles but a few things to keep in mind:

GX470 has the 4.7 liter V-8, 271 HP, belt drive cams (needs replacing every 90k miles) and shim-under-bucket vlave train requiring removal of camshafts to adjust valve clearances.
GX460 has the 4.6 liter V-8, 310 HP (little brother to the 5.7 liter V-8 in Tundras), chain drive cams and hydraulic valve actuators. No maintenance.
