For those who got the infinity 3.5 coax for dash, do you think there’s too much midbass with stock wiring? I feel like I need an amp now for HPF.

Wouldn't just a HPF sort that, out you looking for the output as well?

You may not need the dash upgrade if you like it. I feel like mine overpower the doors.

The hpf would clean it up but the kit didnt come with another set. I ised the jl ones for the dash tweeters.

Did anybody wire it up differently? I might have to run the center tweeters to appropriate side and use the jl hpf per side instead of how the truck was wired.

I wonder if that would work, I'm not quite savvy enough to know for sure. Sounds good in theory.

Oh, ok. I wasn't clear that you're a double cab. Yes, yours won't have that then. Your install makes perfect sense then.

I bought the dash speakers early last year when James first came out with them. I had them wired up when I had the Fix86 installed, but when I switched to the DSR1 I never wired them back. Well after 8 months, I finally wired the dash speakers to my JL amp that powers the doors speakers as James instructed in an earlier post. This thread motivated me to finally connect them back in. Only had a minute to listen before the wife was yelling for me to come help in the house. Will listen to them more in the morning.

Quick question, is it necessarily a bad thing that the tweeters don't require a capacitor mounted on the door? Isn't that typically a sign of a good tweeter/midrange set?

I’m curious on what you think of the dash speakers. I also run the DSR1, but with doors and subs only (C2’s in the doors), all off a JL RD900/5. I’ve often considered pulling the trigger on some dash and center channel tweeters, but am unsure if it’d really be worth it.

These are the 3 connections the come out of the stock pos jbl system.

    24C83DBD-D35B-41DC-9CC8-1AFD40347815.jpg
These are two connectors that James sales that connect and keep you from having to cut these wires. Those two connections route to all the speakers on the truck basically. That other unused connector has a small teal wire that you should t-tap into and that serves as the amp turn on.

    BFEDCFCF-5832-469A-A7D1-D349A9C697D9.jpg
If you get those connectors from James he also has a file that states where each color wire should go.

This is the other side of the amp. Have a pair of rcas running from the head unit to here. Under the "sub" section if you set it to "int" (when you only have rcas going to the front and rear inputs) then I guess the amp pulls bass from those inputs. Not sure. But what I did is I got two rca y cables (single female to two male) and connected the rcas that went into the "rear" to the y cables and that gave me 4 inputs (2 to sub and 2 to rear maintaining red/white). If you do that you can then set the sub to "ext" and youll literally get 10x more bass. No exaggeration.

I have a roll of 3M tape (double sided basically) that I used to mount the bass knob. It's in a good spot plus no drilling. Hasn't moved a cm.

I can give you a speculative opinion, but emailing James would get you the answer youre looking for. I think you would want a different box to downfire. You need space between the sub and the floor this box wont give. Also, with down firing subs, cone sagging will be a real big problem quick without the right box. I do believe someone rigged up a cover for theirs which is probably your best bet.

I suppose emailing is the easiest thing for me to do. It just seemed like such a generic question, that I thought I could get the answer from this thread. Thanks for the perspective.

For anyone waiting on their speakers or JBL amp from the group I will have all the last remaining orders in my hands tomorrow. And they will go out tomorrow and Thursday. Sorry on the delay JBL is a pain in the ass with their shipping department . Tracking will be sent via iOS to your email also . Thanks everyone who has supported us.

Any chance they delivered it to your neighbors?
3 days after they said delivered, I filed a claim.
My neighbors dropped off the package 30 mins after i filed the claim. Both times...:spy:

No I was at home when they “delivered” at 5:41 and heard no one. I also have a security camera on the front of the house and watched the tape, no one came.

The whole package is definitely worth it. Just finished installing the Amp and the DSR1. Sounds amazing, but needs some tuning. Which is more difficult to do than I thought.

That is the reason why im going to wait a little to make the purchase. I also saw the tunning price was over $200, that is a little too much just to tune it, im sure there is more involved to that.

It really really doesn't take a genius to do it though, I've nailed the settings so far but I'm sure there's much more I could do with the settings once I play around with it more. Someone even posted screenshots of their final calibrated product and that will help out a lot once I get the chance to try it this afternoon.
