I'm looking for suggestions on a new book to read. I've finished all the Game of Thrones books, just read American Sniper, Lone Survivor, and a couple books by Army Ranger Sniper Nicholas Irving (The Reaper, Way of The Reaper).

Really like books about the military, fantasy, mystery. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks..!

Couldn't stop reading over the course of about twenty years. Couldn'the wait for the new books to come out. Fascinating fantasy set in a mythical. World. Make sure you start with book number one "The eye of the world".

In all seriousness though, Gates of Fire is my all time favorite military book. I recommend it to all of my troops. It's about the Spartans, but the theme still very much applies to today's military.

Unbroken. It's been made into a movie. I really enjoyed the Master & Commander series by Patrick O'Brian. I could go on and on; I read a lot.

I second this. It took over 25 years for the books to be written. Somewhere around 12 thousand pages and worth it.

Thanks, read those too. They say he's the second best English author. I liked The Martian by Andy Weir.

The two most definitive military books I've read are Decisive Battles, by Creasy and of course The Art Of war

That is an EXCELLENT book. Probably the best out of all the military books I've read, might even be better than American Sniper and Lone Survivor.

I've started reading a military fiction series by W.E.B. Griffin, called the Clandestine Operations series. Once I finish the first two I'm gonna start on The Last Punisher by Kevin Lacz, he served with The Legend himself.
