Yea but when a 3mil thick vinyl wrap can hold up better than powdercoating there are serious quality issues. My truck is in great shape aside from the bumper a small dent in the rear door from me losing control of a wheelie.

ici magnum bumper, when I contacted ici and asked them how the power coating held up they recommended to have it coated with line x, who wants to pay that much money just to have to pay to get it coated with a bed liner. nice bumper but get real. some other bumpers only have a warranty for 120 days on their power coatings:oldglory:

Sorry to hear about the bumper and yes it looks like total shit! Thanks for letting us know about the poor customer service also.

Ouch! Well I hope you like the line-x! I think it’ll do much better than these guy’ powdercoating.

I have the ICI Magnum front bumper & have the same thing happening. Not quite as extreme as yours but almost. They salt the shit out of our roads so I just figured that was the cause until I saw this thread. Planning to pull it off & recoat it soon.

    Dang! I have same bumper.
I had I an initial bad experience with ICI on the beginning: they did not want to honor my refund offer. I had to file a complaint with BBB. Only, then they accepted to pay me.
    And now, this!
So far it’s holding ok, but I can only foresee what’s coming ahead with your post: a complete disaster.
I’ll never buy from this company again.

Looks about like my magnum rt step running boards I just removed. Less than a year old and total failure of the "powder coating" . Much easier to refinish running boards than bumper though. Good luck with the bumper. I've always had good success with POR15 but it's not UV stabile so you have to top coat it with a paint or trunk liner.

Total waste of $400 on my part. Would have went a different way looking back now..

ICI Magnum had a decent product when they got started. I had a bumper and their rail steps on a 2014 JK and another set of their rail steps on a 2015 Chevy Z71. At some point in 2015 or 16, they either sold the company or it was re-organized and it has never been the same since. OP's bumper looks like it was never primed and possibly had surface rust prior to being coated. I wouldn't be surprised if they get shuttered after seeing this thread. I hope they will make it right for you, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Abysmally bad surface prep, if any. Take it off, have it sandblasted to "white metal" (coarser than beadblast for better adhesion), get it powder coated in satin black or gloss black (your choice), then reinstall...it'll last the life of the truck. DIY/contract or turnkey contract.

    Not many yet, mostly stock.

Looks chitty I got a brand new bumper from another manufacturer and re painted it my self... sucks we have to do this but mass production items fail sometimes. Sorry for your anguish, I did the same thing.:anonymous::annoyed: But now much happier that I handled it my self.

They’re not going to do shit for me. I told them I was taking to the forums. All I care about at this point is getting the word out and hopefully taking some business from their greedy hands.

In CA Seal beach area for the next 3 days if anyone wants to sell me a stock bumper!

Well Crap - I really like the look of the Magnum RT step and was searching tonight to see feedback before I purchased them. I"m moving on now - I won't support a company that doesn't take care of their customers.

What company makes a similar low profile step that you would recommend?????

    thanks

I’m not sure. Some of the sliders out there look really nice and low profile. I’m glad but sad you found out. Someone local gave me their bumper a few days ago in trade. Just in time for me to rewrap and put the truck up for sale :headbang:.

Same bumper, same problem. Also their back bumper.

I’ll have them sand blasted and bed lined. Their powder-coat is garbage.
