So probably a dumb question, but for those of us that have 4wd, are all our front diffs open? Or do those of use with mechanical rear LSD have one in front as well?

These are hard to find. Not many options.

You're on the right track by having someone make them for you.

maybe. but in my mind it seems it'd be easier to pull the frame if it wasnt attached at the very end by a hitch.. but ive never had to pull a frame soo i dont know for sure

Call back. Maybe the guy is busy making $$$ to talk right away. Hard to tell unless you try again or just go somewhere else.

Side doink pull out mission unsuccessful. The crease is too strong and any force needed to bend it back transfers the force on the adhesive seam adjacent. Will have to rely on filler and cosmetic tricks from here out. Cost me a dollar and an hours time.

Sweet. Didn’t realize you called twice. Guy must be busy banking $ to call back or just doesn’t care. Hard to tell, but at least you have good options.

Woke up to a dusting of snow this morning, which is rare at 1500’. Was able to test out the Coopers in a little slush.

We all have our ‘druthers’ about what fluids we use, but for future reference Lucas 80-90w (dino) already has the LS additive in the oil.

That tube of LS additive around here costs about $14 at auto store.

One quart of Lucas is $9. The rear on the 02’ takes 3.1 quarts.

Reason for knowing all this is by spending $20 a quart on Mobil1 Synthetic for LS and still got the grumbles.

Switched to Lucas and all is good after wasting $60 on Mobil Syn.

How did your plug magnet look?

Seriously. I got quoted $960 for custom sliders painted and installed. One online was $860 for painted and I think that included shipping not sure. Then you see BFF starting as low as $375 and Stubb's at $325

Maybe I just have no appreciation for what it takes to properly weld but some of the prices on these seem insane. $400 I can handle. $700+, no way... Maybe if I was really beating the shit out of the truck off-road it would make sense. I don't mind to paint them myself either.

You think a shop would weld a set on for $200?

Most shops charge by the hour so it depends on time and hourly rate but yeah that would likely cover it.

The plug magnet looked pretty clean.
I'm chasing a slight howling noise.
When I'm on the gas it's not there
When I'm off the gas it's not there
But when I'm going and have my foot like half way on the gas (not accelerating and not decelerating) but in between, I get a slight howling noise.
Not sure if it is the trans or the rear diff.

So far I have done the carrier bearing- and just changed the rear diff fluid. Still have the noise. It's not real loud but I can hear it..

This was just discussed recently. We all had the same issue. So far no one has figured out how to greaae them. PTM even tried a needle.

I think those zerks are actually smaller. My grease gun slides right on and off. They aren't big enough for the gun to latch.
