I bought a nice 2001 Tundra V8 4x2 last year for my son, fixed it up and he drove it 6 months before the transmission went out. I replaced it with a low mileage 2004 tranny and it worked perfectly until he wrecked the truck. I just inherited my fathers 2000 Tundra (V6), and the tranny is bad on it too, I think it got coolant in the transmission. I drained it and flushed it but still does nothing when I put it in gear. SO:

Will the 2004 V8 tranny I put in the now wrecked truck work in the 2000 V6 truck??

If not, is it worth pulling the V8 engine and drive train and putting it in the 2000 V6 truck?? would the engine mounts even match up???

    Any help is appreciated!

From what I've heard, the bell housings between the v6 and v8 are different. between the two trannys I'd bet you could make it work.

the engine and tranny should mount in the v6 truck. as far as I know, all first gen frames are the same. You'd obviously need to swap over the wiring harness, ecu, etc.

I'm by no means an expert though. hopefully someone else will chime in here.
