    just a simple PSA.

This week I decided it was time to swap the chrome emblems to black. As I pulled the chrome 5.7 iForce badges off, a bunch of water came out from underneath both of them. I hadn't been in a car wash or rain in some time. After I removed all the adhesive what I was left with was a spot of discolored paint, not the entire area, but just a 1x2 inch area on one, and a bit larger on the other door . I decided to buff it out and let it sit for a bit and see what happened, sure enough after 24 hours the spots disappeared.

Just something you all should keep an eye on. The way they put the emblem on is leaving a big bubble under the adhesive that is catching water and holding it there. The fact that the paint was discolored says that it's absorbing it. In time, I think it would've started to rust under the paint.

When installing the new badges make sure there is a void in the bottom of the 3M tape along the bottom edge of the badge. Makes me want to go and poke a hole in the bottom of my 3M tape on the badge to see if I can get water to drain out.

I just decided to not replace that badge. Looks cleaner without it.

Even if you do poke a hole you'd have to get up about half way, that's about where the bubble stopped.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just ordered black badges and will be swapping once Roman gets them to me.

I decided to take of these badges. I sprayed them with Plasti Dip back in June but I think it's looks better without them. I also had a bunch of water come out on the passenger side. Under the badge, there were three chips in the paint and an unusual rectangle spot in the paint the length of the badge where the adhesive was.

Sure it works out great for guys that like to remove badges, because of the 3M tape makes it easy. But remember when a badge wasn’t a piece of shit held on by a sticker? It actually had locating tabs.

Hmmmmm, that's good info. I always figured it would cause rust and we had rust on an old Mazda Protégé 5 under the emblem.

Why is it trucks feel the need to put badges all over the sides? You rarely if ever see them on cars, vans and suv. Low end, mid range or high end, they are all pretty clean on the sides.

Holes, ah yes! On my super white f350 back in the day I stuck a reflector over one and plugged the rest with those black rubber plugs. In Mexico they took it for a military vehicle without all the frikkin badges!

I found no water or discoloration under my 19 tundra but they were off in pretty short order lol

I was looking for justification to get rid of those ugly I-force badges. With only 900 miles on my truck, sounds like the perfect excuse to do it now. Thanks
