Thought I'd give my 2 cents on the Yokohama Geolandars.

    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar A/T-S&partnum=87R7GEOATS&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Got them for a fantastic deal from Discount Tire so decided to give them a try. One other huge selling point (will go into more detail later) is that they were advertised as a true 33" tire, 33.1" overall diameter. I wanted to go with a level kit on the truck so decided the true 33" would fit nicely and help fill in some of that void. I regularly tow about 3.5-4.500 pounds as well.

    Tire wear/noise
Thus far I have about 7000miles on them, aside from the poor alignment cupping, these bad boys still look like the day I bought them. Tread wear so far has been fantastic! They are not noisy when driving down the freeway, just a nice whisper. They also sound the same as when I first bought them, no increase in road noise.

    Traction
I have taken them out a few times on some rocks/sand and with the pressures around 20-25psi and they hook up well with limited wheel slip. Pulling the road out of the water, the launches near me have a lot of algae growth and sometimes we have to launch off the beach due to water levels. Never had an issue with wheel spin getting out with a low tongue weight and no added weight to the bed.

    Balancing
Tires balance out well with little weights when performing a dynamic road force balance (the only way to properly balance tires). Tires have retained the good balance for the past 7000miles, no re-balance was necessary during the rotation.

    Now the bad
My first set of tires were poorly manufactured and had a crazy tire pull in them. After going through the whole tire swap side to side, front to back and again side to side....tires were warrantied out and replaced. New set have had not issues I can attribute to them, most likely just the road crown and my alignment specs.
Also, tires are advertised to be a overall diameter of 33.1". Tire pressures set to 40-45psi, unloaded and I was measuring much less than that - do not remember exactly. During my next Discount tire visit, I will inquire about this being that I am now leveled and a huge reason I went with these is for the tire size that was advertised.

    End result
I would buy again if given the chance to at the same price point as before. Not sure if I would still go with them for more though, I would need to do more research.

Co worker has them on his Nissan Exterra and really likes them. Great tread wear for the money.

I saw the 37" version in person on a very lifted tundra and they wore terrible. Not saying the alignment was dialed in correct, but the owner said they would not do that tire in a 37 again. They are very street tread looking if that's the look your after. Again , could have just been that owner not keeping up with alignment and rotations. I have also read that the rubber is fairly soft compared to others. Good luck..........

IMO they are holding up as expected from my initial impression. I'm not entirely sure the Yokohama advertising on size is accurate - but I'm still happy with the tires.

I now have maybe 20/22k mikes on the tires. I get the tires rotated (criss cross very other rotation) every 3-5k miles. Alignment is regularly checked/changes as necessary.

They have been hitting dirt road frequently now as it saves me a lot of time/mileage to work lol. I still tow a good amount as well. When balancing they take little weight to get dialed in.

If they continue to wear as they are, I can see these lasting another 40k easily...with that said,

The wife gave me the go ahead for some larger tires. Might be going with the new Yokohamas or Cooper in a slightly larger size, 285/75/17.

    Also,
Just got into some extra curricular activities outdoors - requires me to do a little off-road exploring. I can say that traction wise, I know what to expect and they don't let me down! Still very happy in that aspect as well.

Everyone's needs and driving habits are different, hope your able to find a set of tires that fit your needs and make you happy!

Key phrase there to me is "a very lifted tundra". Curious as to what the setup was and like you said, if he kept up with alignment or if it was ever aligned correctly to begin with. I get my alignment checked every oil change as well as rotate tires. I've read mostly good things on this tire, keep it on the back burner for now and keep looking at AT options.

That's why I find this tire attractive, I do a little bit of everything. Goes on work sites with me, hunting, towing, daily driver, etc; seems like a good all around choice in that aspect.

Update...My good friend Mike had them on his F-250 and hated them. He bought a set of Dueler Revo 2's. ?????. Loves them???? Save yourself from trouble....Buy Cooper STT Maxx's or kick it up a notch and get the STT Pro. IMHO.

I have had two sets of the old version in a 2008 Land cruiser and 02 Tundra. They perform very well in The desert with no sidewall issues or minor leaks from our flora. The tread lasted upwards of 6ok on the full time 4x4 Land Cruiser, very impressive. The tundra I sold with approx 36k on them, no issues probable 20k left. These and the BFG AT have been my go to! The wear on these is slightly better, road noise is less. Looks, well not so cool as the BFG.
