It’s actually pretty good for it’s size. Not going to do anything major, but I use it a lot.

Anyone have any advice on how to remove off road pinstripes from the vertical black trim between the front and rear doors?

Try a clay bar, it might work.

Maybe some compound or polish. Not sure though. Its vinyl and can be removed and its body colored underneath. Maybe a vinyl guy like @DecalsByDesign or detailer like @SouthBoundSteve will know?

I second the clay bar idea. Also I think wd40 is safe on powder coat. I know it can be used to remove scratches from powder.

We havent had much snow either. Maybe 6 inches all season. Only one storm really accumulated. It's getting really cold now, no snow in forecast but I'm hoping for some soon. We need some snow for syrup season. Old farmers say the more snow before spring the better the sap flow is. Who knows if it's true though, he did get a lot of rain so at least we aren't in a drought

2000 White Tundra. Paint has dirty ‘smudges’ that will not wash away. It’s like the paint is stained in places. Any way to lift that out?

Possibly Iron-X and clay bar? Outside of polishing, that’s your best bet.

Bought my truck used and the previous owner beat it up pretty bad. Lot of scratches that were painted over like in the pic. Is there something that will fix them or at least make them look a little better?

Tough question...because there's no right answer. The Porter Cable is a good entry level DA, as is the Griots Garage 6" DA, known in detailing circles as the GG6. I chose the GG6 because of it's lifetime warranty, and it has a little more power than the PC. If you watch, Autozone and PepBoys will have the GG6 on sale. There are tons of polishes out there....I'd consider either Meguiars Ultimate Polish or M205 as both are typically available over the counter. Get an account on the Autogeek and/or the Autopia forum(s). Lots and lots of helpful people on both who are willing to share their experience and knowledge with you.

Agreed. I can definitely say I owe a lot to Steve. I was always a guy who just took his truck to a car wash or drive through in the past. Signing up here, and reading his posts changed all that. He was always available to answer questions, and taught me so much. Not only did I become better at detailing, it actually became my biggest hobby and favorite thing to do. I’d never known it could be so relaxing, interesting, and enjoyable.

Any tips for removing paint overspray?

Despite taping my truck off like a crime scene I somehow got black spray paint mist on my white truck.

    Medium or heavy clay bar?

    I was working on this.0119191449.jpg

Thanks. Google said to use Acetone/nail polish remover but that seems dangerous. Thoughts?

I've had very good results removing overspray with GOOP brand hand cleaner. I get it at the grocery store in the laundry supplies aisle.
Rub it in, let it soak in a little, keep rubbing & they seem to come off. Never left it on though, always do a thorough washing of the area & polish/wax after. If it can soften things to remove overspray, I'd guess it could soften paint if left on. but as a hand cleaner, it can't be too harsh.

What is the difference between the levels of clay? (light, medium, heavy). Is one tackier than the other? Is the density different? I have some over spray I am removing from one of my other vehicles and i bought the heavy clay bar since i figured it would do the job of the other 2.

    Alright 2 more questions.

    1. So whenever I’ve waxed my vehicles I have always used meguiars yellow wax and a da polisher with a finishing pad. For some reason my pad seems to absorb a lot of wax throughout the process instead of spreading it, it absorbs so much wax I have to literally wring it out. Why is this happening? Am I using to much wax? The wrong pad?

    2. My spray bottles always seem to leak. Is there a spray bottle you guys recommend? They seem to leak from the trigger area.

I can’t speak to your first question, as I apply wax and sealant by hand.

For the bottles, my two favorites are from Carpro and Shine Supply.

    https://www.carpro-us.com/brushes-b...-empty-spray-bottle-w-trigger-cap-500ml-17oz/

    https://shinesupply.com/products/shine-bottle-w-sprayer

If you’d rather get one locally instead of ordering them, the ones from Autozone are also very good and durable:

    https://m.autozone.com/test-scan-an...ozone-32-oz-spray-bottle/217353_0_0?location=

Lastly, I absolutely love the metal bottles that West Coast Customs uses for their products, though I haven’t found a source to get empty ones. I intend to save some of the ones I have once they are empty.

Thanks for the reply, you can find those metal bottles in most beauty/hair supply store. Don’t ask me how I know lol

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes I am using liquid wax. I will switch out the pads as I wax. I honestly never thought of that haha.

Most of my meguiars bottles (ultimate detailer/wax) and other bottles leak. It could be the way I’m storing them. I hang them all on a rack by the trigger. Do you think this could be causing them to leak?

I’ve checked a couple, but didn’t see them. The search continues.
