Recommendations on the Truxedo Pro x 15?

was looking at tonneau covers and came across a truxedo pro x 15 looks real nice and low profile but I'm unsure of the top material , any info on this?

 

The material is supposed to hold up extremely well and have less stretch and shrink than regular vinyl. My biggest concern was that it would be hard to keep clean. My Truxedo rep showed me a video walk around of a truck from the oil fields with a Pro X15 on it... truck was filthy, the cover stayed very clean.

I installed mine 2 weeks ago. Still surprisingly clean. Super easy to install and insanely low profile.

I'm loving mine. Btw, I adjusted the tension and the small ripples went away.

 

that looks awesome , might I ask where u got it , price and where you able to keep the rail system?

 

I actually got it on eBay when they had the 15% off coupon going, so I got it for like $450. Yes, the model I ordered was specifically designed to work with the rail system.

I love it man, when I need to remove the cover, it rolls all the way up to the front and simply unclips.

 

Hey just joined but I highly recommend it as I had it for 10 months on an old truck before I got rid of the truck. I will be ordering my 2nd for my new Tundra in the near future. As far as "cleanliness" its not difficult. I washed it when I would wash the truck ( no additional attention) and it looked great all the time. As long as you know your ok with it being a soft cover then I can give it a great recommendation. The only people that I met who did not care for it was because they wanted a hard cover. My coworker recommended it to me because I wanted something low profile so I got it. Since then I know 3 other friends with trucks that have gotten the exact same one too and all happy with their purchases.

 

Anyone know how this would hold up if it has several inches of wet snow on top of it?

 

People that have this cover, does it do good with keeping water out of the bed? Is there a big difference between the X15 and the Lo Pro?

 

I had the Lo Pro on my Tacoma for about 5 years. It did great, never really stretched and didn’t pool water. Now I have the X15 and it looks much nicer - like a convertible top, and lower profile. But it does seem to pool water more than the Lo Pro did. There was some water in the bed after we had a soaking 2” rain one night, but it keeps stuff dry when the truck is moving, so no worries on road trips. I might add a bed mat at some point to keep luggage up out of any trickling water if it does get in.

I also had to add some spacers under the brackets to get the rails even. I have the bed track system and a spray in bedliner.

 

Does it use the factory rail system? I have the mini bike fork holders in the rail system. Could those stay in?

 

It’s available in models that do or do not use the factory system. You can still use tie downs on the side rails but I don’t know if a bike fork would still fit.

 

I asked them this exact question. Truxedo rep told me that it will hold 250lbs evenly distrusted weight. They also told me they never had to replace one because of snow accumulation damage. Just don't let it sit in a snowstorm for days. lol

Yes, the OEM tie down cleats are utilized but need to be removed for install of the Truxedo system and then reinstalled to you liking in positions you need them in.

How much of the bed is covered when it’s rolled up? Is there room for this bike fork rack at the front of the bed?

I had a soft tri fold on my taco and got tired of removing it when I needed to carry my bikes.

Look at post #96. I purchased mine today. It will be here next week and I'll post up pictures.

 

I've had this cover for a little over 6 months now. It has been great and held up well in all conditions. I do need to install some washers to make the rails more level. I'll try and take a couple pics of the cover rolled up and how much room there is at the bulkhead

Where did you find this cleat? I was thinking of building something to do this but this cleat on the front rail would be perfect!

 

The cleat is for a tacoma. They work in the tundra track system. The bike rack part was an oem accessory in 2005 I bought for my taco.

 

I have the Truxedo Lo-Pro QT on my Tundra and it has held up really well. It looks really similar to the Truxedo X-15 seen in this thread. The best part of the Lo-Pro is the lifetime warranty which even covers the vinyl and velcro.

 

I apologize in advance for rehashing this thread. I ran into a problem that prevented me from installing my Truxedo Pro X15 on my 2021 Tundra TRD Sport. My Tundra is equipped with the factory deck rail system. The factory bulkhead deck rail prevents the tonneau cover header bar from seating properly on the tonneau side rails. The sliders on the tonneau header bar are hitting the factory bulkhead deck rail and no matter what I try, it will not install. Truxedo is starting to think that my 2021 was equipped with the 2022 model year factory deck rail system. If you're able to, could you please provide a few photos of the clearance of the tonneau sliders and the bulkhead factory deck rail! Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
