    Hey guys,

I am about to order up some lug nuts for the Icon Rebounds I got, and I just wanted to check with those who are more knowledgeable than I.

Am I correct, that these are the type to go with, since the Rebound's are hubcentric? From my understanding, with these wheels, neither E/T or spline drive lugs are needed.

And here's a Rebound shot to keep things from being boring :)

Yeah, that thread was concerning Icon Six Speeds, which are lug centric. The guys at Wheelers told me that only Acorn style with 60 degree Taper are needed for the Rebounds. I just want to double check before ordering anything.

Discount Tire used their own ET lug nuts on my Icon Rebounds. Have had them for a few thousand miles so far with no problems.

I got the chance to talk more with Travis @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc

I ended up going with the Lugs that I linked along with a set of lug locks from Gorilla. I didn't want to screw around with an E/T lug and all the misery they bring when they break off in your wheel.

    Hope it helps somebody.:hattip:

Was not aware of the potential for ET lugs to break off. For peace of mind, I ordered the same acorn lugs from Wheelers that you linked. Have you gotten yours yet? If so, any pictures you can share of them on your Rebounds?

Are there documented cases on this forum of ET lugs failing in any way? Only personal experiences need apply. I don't think the failure rate is moderate or even low, probably rare.

I've not heard of it until a few members mentioned it. I don't believe SCS or Camburg would sell them if there was a chance of failure. Both very reputable companies.

I went ET for the piece of mind in having more than 8 full turns of engagement. I tow and haul, wasn't interested in shedding a wheel.

Based on the research I did prior to purchase, ET lugs will fail if an impact is used instead of a torque wrench. The impact will stretch the ET portion from the acorn, weakening it. I also always use anti-seize on my studs.

Yeah, those are the same locks. I will be sure to post up once I get everything mounted.

As far as the E/T lugs are concerned, I figured between the fact that both wheelers and Icon told me they weren't needed on the rebounds, and since eventually I will be bashing this truck around on rocky trails, that any possible BS that could be mitigated would be best.

Yes, my earlier google search found a few posts from those who’ve broken longer lug nuts. All that was left was a small broken ring piece stuck on the stud and within the wheel’s lug hole, making it very difficult to remove. So no, I have no personal experience, but reading about others’ experiences has left me a bit leery. It may be rare for them to break, but with my luck I'd rather not risk it.

Looking at mine, I can see how their longer length can act as unwelcome leverage to the outer exposed area of the lug nut, adding some vulnerability to breakage. I think you're right about the risk of breakage with an impact wrench. And I think there may also be a risk if using a lug wrench that isn’t deep enough to cover the whole lug nut, again because of the leverage from the nut’s longer length.

Use anti-seize, a torque wrench, and ET lugs.

Or use standard acorns at 4-6 turns and hope yo' wheels is good.

Icon wheels do not use ET lugs. Plenty of engagement, and ET lugs are too long for them.

Confirmed across all Icon wheels? How many full rotations of the lug nut are you getting?

Went ahead and picked up the same lugs and locks from wheelers. Thanks for the thread. I’m running the same wheels. I can’t wait to wrap them in 35s. AD956065-10E7-4D3B-A31D-F6BB521B5174.jpg

Resurrecting this thread now that I’ve come across a problem trying to replace the ET lug nuts with acorn style from Wheelers. I finally got around to trying to install them after procrastinating all this time.

Unfortunately, none of my lug wrenches fit in the Rebound lug bore. The bore is too narrow. I tried a 21 mm socket, but it’s too thick to fit in the Rebounds’ narrower lug bore. Is there an adapter or thin-walled lug wrench that works?

By the way, the Wheelers site says these acorn style lug nuts are 3/4”, but the ones I got are 21 mm, which are bigger than 3/4” (about 19 mm) and I suspect are also bigger than 7/8”.

    Would these work?
West coast lug, splined. Unsure if the length at end (after angle) is an issue?
