Yes a hole.. the wife got so mad at him trying to play with him so to speak and him ignore her watching football , she took off one of her stiletto heels thru it at the TV and the heel part pierced the tube.. she threw it that hard..

    ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!:help::bowdown:

    Seems as though the truck might be a wee bit broken. Not sure what it is quite yet, my best guess at the moment as I haven't torn it apart is a blown front left wheel bearing or axle bearing.

    Symptoms;
    -metal to metal LOUD grinding noise coming from the front left
    -doesn't happen until after about 5 minutes of driving and then it's consistent in every facet of driving. Same decibel level of ear piercing grinding noise whether I'm braking, turning or just coasting along.

    I also just had the front brake pads changed at mazzulla.

    Possible conclusions?;
    -Busted wheel stud
    -blown out wheel bearing
    -blown out axle bearing

    If you have any other suggestions of what it might be, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I can add it to my check list and start with the easier to check things first before pulling an axle. Those are the only possible conclusions I can think of after doing my homework. Going to take a look at it either tonight or tomorrow night.

    Will do, thanks cliff. If there's play in the hub where specifically should I start looking after I remove the wheel?

    Also should mention that it doesn't look like either of the CV boots are leaking either. Mazzulla did a good job sealing those up.

    I have this noise sometimes after driving through sand, might be sand between the pads & rotor.

    Same noise description and everything you're describing.

    I would love for that to be the issue! Except the truck hasn't seen a lick of dirt since I got it back. :( I thought maybe surface rust, considering i live about a mile from the ocean and i'm constantly chasing surface rust on all my toys but visually checking that's not the case.

    I did forget to mention that I'm able to move the wheel in all directions ever so slightly when the wheel is jacked up into the air. A few millimeters each direction. I've never known for a blown bearing to make that high pitch of a grinding noise though. and the noise stays the same at all speeds.

    sounds like a bearing starting to go. I lost one completely at about 55mph on my Tacoma and it was not a fun experience. Bearing spit all the internals out and ground into the caliper, totally trashed the rotor and pads. Get that replaced ASAP and do both sides while you're at it.

    Could be just a tiny pebble there as well, there should not be any movement in your wheel if you jack it up and try to pull it side to side or up and down

    Thanks for the input guys. I'll dig into it tomorrow. I'm hoping it'll hang in there long enough to go pick up the new R1

    Such a rough life bud. Buahhhhaaahhaaa

    I am going to say bearing hub as well. If it were something in your brakes, it would happen all the time and not after 5 min of driving. Hopefully it is easy to find and repair.

    Enjoy the new R1 tomorrow. I suspect we will not hear a lot from you for around 72 hours, other than to tell us about how awesome the bike is.

    Work hard play harder right?!

    Just got word they're going to deliver the bike to my house either tomorrow or the following day! That means the truck is getting torn apart ASAP

    Thankfully it's hot enough to ride the R1 around, considering its coming with racing slicks on it. :D

    72hours-1month....somewhere in-between there haha! I've got 4 track days lined up at chuckwalla. Need to get back to race pace ASAP so I can start racing again.

    Got an update for you guys. Here's what I know so far.
    The ear piercing metal on metal grinding noise was a result of the dust shield grinding against the rotors. Bent those back some more and the ear piercing grinding has stopped.

    I can now hear a more "metal on gravel like" grinding noise which is not nearly as deafening as the issue above was.

    There is still a good bit of play in the tire when it's jacked up in the air. Haven't checked the other side yet to see if both sides are doing it.

    Also my Tie Rod end bushings are completely destroyed. They look completely shredded to pieces.

    The truck is getting sent off to mazzulla probably some time this week to get all of that sorted out. Maybe they'll do a heim steering upgrade sooner than expected? I'm hoping atleast.

    Then when the truck comes back, the ECU's are getting dropped off for some secret R&D work that will be available to the public most likely after it's all said and done.

    That's what I know, once mazzulla tells me exactly what broke i'll update you guys further. In the between time, once the R1 get's here I'll keep you guys entertained with that beast :D Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

    Yessir!
    2015-16 R1 are the same. The entire bike including the motor has been redesigned. And the electronics package is mind boggling.

    I would just go ahead and do the aluminum tie tod ends/Heims. DOM will work if the strength isn't up to what you want on the aluminum.
