Hi guys I’m upgrading my tire size and wondering since the 33 is not that much bigger than the stock tire anyone’s me able to fit that up under the truck in the stock spare position?

33s will definitely fit. I have 295/70/18 which is about 34.5 in the spare spot.

My LT285/70R18 Nitto Exo Grapplers fit just fine. It would be worthwhile to cut off the tabs at the forward end of the tire as described above.

I know you're asking about 2nd gen, but for what it's worth, I was able to fit a tire that is 34.29" diameter and 11.77" wide (Nitto Ridge Grappler 295/70 R18) on my 2018 Tundra Limited, in the spare tire space, on the stock spare wheel. It's super close to the driver's side leaf springs but it seems to work.

My spare hasn't been used in 10 years, think the winch still works? I haven't tried.

I wouldn't wait till you need it. I screw mine down every year and put anti seize on mechanism and chain. Messy but it works.

Yeah this thread just brought up that maintenance item for me. Supposed to be 60s here on sunday so i'll lower the tire, inspect it and air it and lube the winch before putting it back.

I just put in a LT275/70R18 Falken Wildpeak and found it to be a very tight fit on the 2015. Although, I didn't cut or bend the two front tabs.

I've got a General Grabber AT2 35x12.50 (34.8") under my 2008 right now. It's a tight fit, but it's in there with no cutting.

If I put a 295 70 18 Nitto Ridge grappler on the spare with the stock spare rim on it would that be ok and not hit or have any issues with my UCA?

The winch probably works; the spare is no longer safe for highway use.

I have a 275 65 20 under mine when I have the summer tires on.

What's the downside of having a narrower but same height tire? Like a 255/80? They're cheaper and in theory are only temporary. Does our auto lsd have issues with the varied load?

As others have mentioned, should be fine without any modifications for a 33”. I fit a 35x12.5 KO2, just bend or remove the guides towards the front of where the spare sits.

Thanks everyone for the replies that's great. I don't really like the looks of bumper, hitch or roof mounted spares so I'm glad to fit it under. I was going to go with a 295/70/18 but they were indefinitely back ordered in the tire I wanted so I will bump up to that next time so I went with the 305/65/18 which are a 33.6" glad they will fit underneath!
