Poly LCA bushings???

For a brief second I was considering the LSK stock length lowers, but the $1900 preorder price and $2400 normal price is still too rich for my blood. Im gonna give Energy Suspension time to come up with something like they said and I’ll decide which bushing to go with from there.

 

I am surprised it has took them so long to come up with one, considering the market wanting them.

The LC200 and tundra control arms are the same

 

I understand that, but want to see what the people that have bought them have to say in a few months, and as I said earlier I’d love to have the energy suspension bushings that are made with graphite in them so they’re self lubricating to an extent.

 

Does each part number come as a pair?
So do you need to order 1 of each part number or 2 of each part number?

Not sure if this is normal but the bushings leave a little bit of space for in the control arm pocket. Hopefully it closes up once I tighten them. Btw if it looks different than your LCA pockets, it’s because i am installing a lift.

I might install a washer.

 

that doesn't look right to me. Especially if the inner sleeve isn't long enough. If you install a washer, you might find that it won't hold an alignment because the cams will wander. But maybe not

 

No the washer should have no effect on it. Lots of other kits come with washers on different vehicles.

 

Update: that’s the way it is when it is not tightened. When I tightened up the bolts it was all good!

 

How’s the ride? Any difference from stock?

 

Were you able to identify any play in the LCA bushing, or was it just that process of elimination you mentioned that led you to the bushing replacement? I've torqued everything down and I couldn't identify any play in the LBJ or the bushings. We have a little popping and a loose feeling, especially when the wheel falls away from the truck (if that makes sense).

Any noticeable difference? Did you change yours just because you were installing the lift, or were your stocks bad?

 

Honestly I ASSumed that it was the LCA bushings because of the mileage I have and the life it’s had. Turned out to be the steering rack bushings which are a royal PITA to replace. I had a loose feeling and popping noise also, with all that you do in your truck I’d say check the steering rack bushings first.

 

Honestly, I am not sure. Everything feels good.

My truck has high mileage and since the suspension was due for replacement, I just replaced everything.

 

Thats how mine feels. Replacing the drivers tie rod end today. It has 1mm - 2mm play in it. I can grab the brake caliper and put my fingers on the joint and I can feel it move when I wiggle the caliper.

 

Yeah, I considered the steering rack bushings first, but we just had the rack replaced less than 10k miles ago. I also ASSume the bushings are replaced when the rack is, but might have to confirm that with the dealership. Did you go with the poly bushings for the rack?

I checked the tie rods and LBJ and they all felt good. Gonna have to tear it apart more deeply in order to free the LCA from the spindle and coilover/bypass so I can really check for play in the bushing without anything connected to it applying pressure. @Prostar 190 I may be asking to rent your garage again soon.

Hate to say it, but I love hearing that other people do stupid things too. Makes me feel less alone in my stupidity. If I may ask (just so I don't do it too) how did you do it twice?

 

Was tired and in a rush (had an appointment to drop my truck off at Toyota the next morning) and didn’t torque the bolts down properly... so I got to torque them while on Imogene Pass in Colorado but it was too late, they were already trashed.

 

Just get a hold of me.

 

How do you torque them? I can only get a torque wrench to the bolt on the bottom, and not the nut on top. Do you just hit the bolt with the 89 lbft?

 

That’s what I did, the first time I just used a 1/2” ratchet. No issues since I torqued it.

 

Any squeaks or issues from the bushings? I think I’ve waited as long as I can for energy suspension to come out with something.

Exactly what I’m trying to prepare for, research online says this company makes some bad ass bushings so I have high hopes. Problem is theyre in Australia

Old thread, but this is where I found the info so thought I would add to it. Just finished my LCA bushings as well as swapping to 700lbs coils at the same time. Tomorrow will be the poly bushings for the steering rack. I did the bottle jack method to take the old out and that shit is dangerous but effective. Used coil compressors and u joint press pieces to get them back in. Not ideal, but I worked with what I had. I did destroy the coil compressors by stripping the threads on it and had to buy new ones to finish the job. Can’t wait for the steering bushings and alignment to see how it feels. Since I pulled the cam tab bolts to do this I switched over to the SPC cam tab bolts. Thanks guys for doing the research and documenting it.
