Yep. There's a 1.5" difference between the spare and new setup though so I'll end out replacing it. Might be able to at least keep the rim.

You bastards keep making me go outside to look under at my spare lol, it's not the same tire as the original 4? ("not for highway use")

I have a 5th spare that I rotate in. I put a sensor in it and everytime I rotate, my light stays on for about 10 miles and goes out.

Just looked under AGAIN, mine's a BD too. Excuse Mich in previous posts, my stocks were originally BD HT's.

Ok Ron, cut it out! (steps out to drop spare... kidding)

Priced out an extra NRG 295/70R18 on Method Mesh, would be $700+tx, ouch

Didn't really shop around, I'm in Canada so it would be 1010tire and 4x4WheelParts I'm going off of. A used 295/70R18 I'm guessing would probably be $150 installed on my steely.

Edit: I'd probably get a deal off my buddy who owns a custom rim shop, maybe save $100 if exact 5th.

One thing to keep in mind......if your spare is fairly close in height to your good tire on the rear, you can air down one of them to equalize height between the two. Just sayin. It's only temporary till you get home.

I carry a full size spare that matches my wheel and tire set up.. If you do any hard off roading its a requirement.

What would you consider hard off-roading? What may be hard to me might seem like a Tuesday morning drive to work for you.

Alright, for all of you who do the 5-wheel rotation thing, is there a specific rotation pattern you follow, and how often do you rotate? I do a lot of offroading and have upgraded to larger tires, so I want to include the spare tire in my rotation for reasons mentioned previously in this thread.

This is interesting about your TPMS light. I wonder if the TPMS system is only monitoring four of the five tires, which I've read is how it works. So that as long as the four tires it's monitoring are within range, and are properly inflated (even if one of them happens to be mounted in the spare tire location), the TPMS system is happy.

On a 2018+ with the 4 tire pressure readings on the dash is it best to put a TPMS sensor in the spare if doing a 5 tire rotation? Would the spare TPMS sensor screw up the dash display?

No. The TPMS in the spare won’t affect it because the truck only monitors 4 of them. But if you rotate tires, you’ll have to get it reprogrammed to the 4 tires on the ground. I have 5 TPMS but only 4 are being monitored. I’m not even sure which tire is the one turned off right now but I know it’s one of the 4 on the truck. Not a big deal to me because I air up/down so often I’ll know if I have a slow leak. And when I’m offroad and aired down, the light is on anyways so it won’t tell me if I have a flat anyways. If I knew this when I bought my tires, I wouldn’t have bought the fifth TPMS.

Someone else posted up the picture already for a five tire rotation and as for the TPMS I have five sensors in all of them just to keep the stupid light off. The Tundra TPMS system can only monitor four at a time.

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
I bought a 20” Fuel spare rim, from America’s Tire, as they scratched my new rims...
I noticed it, called them on it and got a killer deal on it the scratched one, $95 bucks for a $320 d rim...
    Now I need the tire

Ok so I have 4,850 miles to go before I have to buy a 18" TRD off road package wheel for the spare, to match the other four! They seem to be hovering right around $200 on Ebay.

Hah yeah, this Tundra is the nice truck. The frankenstein mismatched wheels and 2" of interior dust are on the old 99 Tacoma.

I’ve always don the same nice tire, then a shitty wheel to put the tire on. That way I can have a full size spare and if I happen to pop one to the point it’s not repairable , I can put that brand new tire on a wheel and buy another to match then use the old “good” tire as a spare....

    You guys follow?

Except that tire may not be brand new anymore if it has sat under your truck for 5 to 10 years. It will not perform the same as the other 3. Better to use the spare to get where you need to go and buy a new tire for the wheel that went flat.
