I’ve seen a few people asking about upgrading their 2018+ to the 2019 Pro grille. Thought I’d share my story, and the info gathered during. This is based on having the system work exactly as designed.

    Cost
    Pro grille - $315.00
    Garnish - $345.00
Millimeter wave sensor assembly - $600.00 ish
Radar and camera recalibration - $300.00 ish

    Total - $1560.00

Grille is self explanatory. The garnish is a multi layer radome with 3 visible layers, and the only metal attaching it is on the back side of the grille(behind radar path). Next is replacing the millimeter wave sensor due to the Pro having a different part #. Could be nothing but a number change. But after studying the systems, the different radomes(rounded emblem or Pro garnish) each would likely use a different antenna array. I am able to get my truck recalibrated, and doubt using the above parts would be an issue. But at the end of the day, I will have technically voided my warranty on the system, and don’t know if other dealers would help in a bind. So I abandoned for now. I would suggest negotiating the Pro grille into your purchase if available, much easier.

Thanks for sharing, this quest of mine is becoming a huge pain in the ass. I bought the insert already when that special popped up for $180. Bought the ARES bracket too. Now I just need a cement bulge and whatchacallit. They aren’t making it easy, are they?

Do you have step by step instructions on what to do to make this work with the 2018 grill?

Both the 18 grill and the 19 Pro look awesome. I just paint matched everything as I didn’t want to mess with the sensor and everything else. Plus I like the honeycomb

No, I did not do it for the reason in the post. When planning, the dealer was going to swap all the parts, and perform the recalibration at the same time.

New to the forum and resurrecting an older thread.

Does anyone know if you unplug the sensor will it need to be recalibrated? I just want to replace the chrome surround and keep the grill. I was also told that if I mess with the sensor, it essentially voids my warranty.

I would hate to go the plastidip route.
    Thanks

I paid the dealer $120 to install the bulge and surround. Worth it, if anything screws up its on them.

    Thanks for the info!

I'll check with my dealer and see what I can work out.
