2019 5.7 trans cooler location

I have looked at 5 2019 5.7 tundras the cooler is not in same location as previous yrs,this is an old topic but I can't believe no one else noticed this feedback please

 

Read another post that said it was not a stand-alone cooler but integrated now.
Tundra payload is under rated

 

I know about it integrated with the ac condensor I don't see the lines going to the upper part rt side of condensor I looked at 5 different trucks

 

If it ever quits raining here I'll try and get out to mine and see if I can grab a photo.
Beginning to think we need to be on the lookout for Moses in this part of Texas.

The only places I could find that looked like they had lines coming in was on the front of the radiator... one was a U shaped with fins on it and the other looked like it fed into a smaller radiator on the front of the main one. the small one on the right looked like it was attached to the darker framed cooler to the left of it. I couldn't find the standard lines/hoses that you would running from the transmission that one would expect either, so they are either "hidden" in the bowels of the engine compartment or are invisible.
Was to wet to pull the stuff off the front to look. I pulled the truck into the garage and crawled under it trying to find more out.
Some of this may be HVAC related. I'm more familiar with the layout on my old '96 Ford F-250 that went off to trade for this one.

That's from a 2019 that we just got. Probably changed it because of cost saving measures. Hopefully someone will chime in that knows where they connect for sure since they aren't where one would normally expect.

 

Did the 5 you looked at had tow packages! I think only the trucks with tow pkg have trans cooler ... & engine oil cooler.

 

Yes they did all 5.7 trucks have the tow package

Thanks for the pictures but I still don't see the trans cooler lines on top of a.c. condensor

 

There is no cooler on top of the ac condenser like all previous 2014-2018 but don't hold me it on 2018's. Maybe the new 1234 Freon has something to do with it?
Anyone with a 2018? Or someone with a 2019 with a tow package can take a picture of the new trans cooler location????

 

The 2018 have trans cooler on the top portion of the ac condensor not so on 2019 a picture of new location or anybingonwoild be nice

 

Did you maybe look at a 4.6? They do not have the cooler. Never mind saw you said 5.7.

Well I tried to look very difficult to pin point the location. Im probably wrong but isn't the small rad on the very bottom of the front. Im no mechanic lol

 

No that is the ps cooler i am very curious as to why they moved it i wonder if anyone else can comment

 

Most parts sites don’t have 2019s listed yet, but here is one for the cooler listed under the 2019 Tundra. But if you click on “What this fits”, it only goes to 201808.

Need someone to follow the lines from the trans to see where they go.

I just looked at my 19. Same thing. The black finned tube is the PS cooler. The right aluminum tube is part of the AC. As far as I can see, the evaporator is only connected to AC lines, (I traced on drivers side). I think the transmission cooler is now a OTW (oil to water) system imbedded in the engine cooling system/ There are two new lines coming from the oil filter fitting that route under the manifold. So for all I see coming from the transmission is the thermostat lines.

Thanks, blaserdude, can you take pictures of the complete radiator and the ac condenser if your able to. It sounds like they increased the ac condenser size and went back to a trans heater/cooler in the radiator, not a fan of if you keep the vehicle for 10 plus years. I've seen to many milky radiators and transmissions. Thanks again

 

Forgot, I have asked about r1234yf freon at the dealer and a body shop. Both stated 10-15 percent increase in efficiency and cooling.

 

I doubt if I can get pics. Back injury keeps me from doing much crawling around. The lines I saw go into the engine oil cooling exchanger. Perhaps the ATF preheater is now dual purpose (thermostat). The description on the window sticker says engine/transmission oil cooler as in one device. OTW is much more efficient with respect to heat transfer rate than OTA. The red flag is when the water gets too hot and cooks the fluid or when the two mix as you stated. When I can get the think on stands, then I can look for other lines and routing.

As I suspected, the system now is integrated with the engine oil cooling system on the oil filter mounting fitment.

Thank u i wonder if the new system is more effective than the old system is it connected to the radiator

 

If it’s integrated with the engine oil cooler, seems like it’d be less effective. The ones that share a cooler with the ac at least have lots of fins and airflow. Did they also change the oil cooler?

 

I'm pretty sure earlier trucks had the engine coolant flowing to the trans. I've read it helps with warm up, but I'm contrast it keeps the trans the same temp as the engine coolant. My tundra trans temps run pretty high, In contrast my Tacoma with tow package is like 30* cooler in same situations.
