Maybe buy an ATV that you can fit in the bed. Park the truck at the start of the trail and ride the ATV in. Just a thought.

I believe in in supporting our very good vendors here. Most of my major purchases if not all have been from from vendors here. I do prefer to buy from local vendors near me and I'm lucky enough to have two...ToyTec and RCI. Actually Light Racing (SPC) is local too although I have yet to buy the SPC's. SDHQ is great to have here and supports our efforts quite well.

I haven't read through the whole thread, @papasmurf tagged me in earlier today and I haven't had time to read through everything.

I'll assume most everyone has described how much each major manufacturer is pretty similar, which is largely true.

For us it came down to ride quality and flexibility of use. Our Tundra is my wife's daily driver and our part-time high speed overlanding rig, so we needed comfort on the road and control off road. That led us to seek a suspension with digressive valving and clickers. Only Icon offers digressive valving off the shelf (most any can be tuned to be more progressive or more digressive, but to completely flip the curve properly requires re-profiling the shock piston face and ports).

Somewhere on this forum I described the differences between progressive and dogressive, but can’t find it immediately (maybe someone can find the link?).

anyway, long story short (I did months of research) we went with Icon to get the digressive valving and we got bypasses with clickers so they're adjustable. All parts and some of the install done by SDHQ.

    Front
3.0 coilovers (with your bumper you probably want stiffer springs)
    2.5 bypass
Adjustable upper control arm (to help us clear 37s)

    Rear
    2.5 bypasses
    Bumps
    3/4” shackle
    1” block (to clear 37s)

@KevinK good post we specifically tagged you regarding if icon had stiffer springs like fox and king have a 700 available instead of 600.. is icon an option or no? I’m thinking based on what I know it’s not.

So in your opinion what is Best tire pressure? What the truck wants or what the tire states?

The Truck door states recommended pressure and the tire states MAX pressure - so two different numbers. Load E tires will say something like Max pressure 60psi but nobody runs that unless they are loaded down or towing. Start with the door pressure and adjust up or down on how the truck rides. Off-road its a different story cause you can be anywhere from 15-35 based on preference, weight and terrain.

Haha! I was just scrolling through the gram and saw Christian’s post. I’ve wheel with him before and he’s down to wheel pretty hard and fast.
I’ll ask him how he likes them after he’s had a chance to run them.

Timbren SES has worked flawlessly on the front end with my heavy bumper. I run desert and foothills high-speed to get to low range crawls on mountain mine roads.

If I had the $$$$, I'd purchase a set of Sway-A-Ways. You can rebuild these yourself easily enough with basic tools and a spring compressor. Adjustable for ride height and fine tuning. Aftermarket upper control arms with sealed ball joints finish the deal. Micheal Leighton at aFe is a good resource.

Whatever you do, I strongly suggest Timbrens or some bumpstops in addition to coilovers. I installed the Timbrens on my rig 2 years ago and haven't blown a seal since. In the past it was 2 or 3 times a year. No loss of ride quality or wheel travel. Removing the stock bumpstops was the most troublesome. The studs broke...

I run a 1st Gen with 275k on the ticker. Three-quarters of those miles were in the West Desert of Utah. I replaced lower control arms twice due to spent bushings. Toyota OEM lasted the longest, but aren't the smoothest. Beware of all the front end bushings as they wear.

    Just my .02.

    @KevinK @papasmurf @sdhq_offroad

Lots of people asking what my miles are like day to day- Here ya go.. this is the main road I go down everyday to get to any of our wellpad locations/pipeline.

I got a call from one of my compressor mechanics that he broke down and this is my ride to pick him up. Wait til the end...

That looks like a lot of little chop with the occasional decent sized bump. I’d go with the Icon for smoothness over that kind of stuff.

If you’re gonna keep that bumper, I’d suggest the 3.0 coilover with a 700lb spring and delete your sway bar. The sway bar tries to keep both wheels level, but it kills the off road ability of the front end to act independent. A lot of your rocking back and forth left to right that is visible in the video will go away.

I’d put bypasses on the rear as they will allow you to quickly adjust to suit the terrain. Softer setting on the little choppy stuff, and more firm for bottom-out resistance on bigger hits. (The front 3.0 are already adjustable on the compression stroke)

Also, that Chevy is fucked. Hope you got a tow truck out there.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’m excited to get a setup. My check engine light just came on and traction control OFF

Save this on your phone in a special album so you can get to it easily. I haven’t looked through it yet for your combination.

    Wow thanks.

This has happened once before and I could not figure out what it was, so I disconnected battery overnight and reconnected the next morning. It was cleared. That was about 3 months ago.
