Since buying the truck two weeks ago I've seen the Entune system restart a few times. I looked this morning on the Toyota download site and see that there is an update which notes that if fixes that random reboot issue. I've put it on a flash drive and tried the update process but it never shows the "New Software" button to update. Anyone else had issues like this? It seems to mostly happen if I go from listening to music via Bluetooth to making a phone call. I'm about ready to rip this head unit out and go to a Pioneer NEX with wireless CarPlay, but then I won't have the grid lines with the backup camera.

Apparently this update is actually from September 2017 now that I'm looking at it again.

I had that issue on the 2nd day after buying my 2014 tundra 2 years ago. I took it back and made the dealer update it. Mine was rebooting every 5 minutes or so. Since the update it has maybe done it once, after it did an update through my phone. I hate the entune radio, it has all sorts of weird quirks - mine will sometimes do a quick partial mute every 5 seconds - I have to change the channel then back or skip the song. It is not constant and does it with all sources (FM, XM, CD, & Bluetooth), So I may replace the head unit one day.

Not sure what is preventing auto manufacturers from coming up with a decent, functional head unit. There are some annoying things about entune, but it’s a lot better than the Microsoft garbage Ford puts in. The Bluetooth audio feature on mine would stop working suddenly mid-song and would then not work for a week or two, then pick back up as if nothing happened. About ripped it out of the dash barehanded once.

Some days text messages come thru, mostly not, looses blutooth connection, then magically reconnects. Wont see music thru bluetooth, then it does. Drives me crazy

My invoice says I have "Entune Audio Plus w/Connected Nav Scout GPS Link App, 7" Hi-Res Touch Screen, AM/FM/HD Radio, SXM w/3mo Trial, CD, USB/AUX, Bluetooth, and Siri Eyes Free".

But I can't register with Entune app, said my VIN is not valid. Called the dealer and sales guy said that my truck didn't have the app version even though it's right there in the invoice. I read here that it sucks and it's not worth the trouble but still. It's supposed to work.

So much for after sales service.

I'll probably get something else down the road.

Go thru service department, and let them know your issue. They will either be able to fix your issue or know a sales dou##e that will know how to help you out

Service Dept sent me to sales. Service guy said he doesn't deal with Entune stuff.

I knew before buying the truck that Entune is complete garbage, so I can’t be too mad about it. My wife has had three vehicles with Entune and it’s always bad. Just sucks to spend almost $1,000 to get a new head unit and make it work with all of the controls and everything when I could spend that on other modifications.

There's an update from Toyota.com I got dloaded. Will poke at it this AM.

You have to register with Toyota, get your vehicle in your account and hit Resources, you can find the Audio and Multimedia there.

Not sure this update is applicable to my system but won't hurt to see.

I update my own with app on my iphone and never have a problem with Bluetooth or the head unit. This was both in my 2013 and my now 2018.

I have the same issues with my 2018 entune connected nav headunit. Had the same issue in my 2014 Tacoma full nav entune app headunit as well. These headunits suck. I’ve got a 12” android radio on order to replace this piece of junk.

The only issue I've ever had with Entune is lack of compatibility with my iPhone. I had a 16 Taco; the messaging never worked right with my iPhone 6 or 8, and it's the exact same with my Tundra. At least I can receive calls without issue, which is really all I care about. But the messaging is intermittent and has never worked right.

Register your vehicle and dig into the support/resources links.

Went to try it this am, I'm wondering if my USB port is working right. I've never seen the Aux show up on the head unit, it charges. I got a USB stick with some audio and images on it, will test further.

I’ve tried the update from Toyota but it will never see the update file as available on my usb stick either.

Tried this already as mentioned. This takes me to the same old download page. The update it shows for mine is from September 2017, so my head unit doesn’t see that as new software on the flash drive.

The version I dloaded is version 01014B 013A4C

    mDDk0G0hIfFLbSi2RXMNi5V7IZ-uyif7rGBl2f4C_d38f1e7dea53e888cfd7d2f7aa346d8488a82ac0.jpg
But that first number on Audio seems to be higher, not sure what that second set of numbers are but whatever.

On a positive note, at least it did see that I had a USB drive installed, didn't read anything from it, said wrong file format but it did read.

Screw it, I just found Spotify, it lets my apps talk over BT. I'll dump XM, don't like all the talk anyway.

My complaints were it would reboot on its own all the time especially switching from Bluetooth music to a phone call. That doesn’t happen anymore. I checked and the dial pad is there and works and Pandora is also still there.

Great! Thanks. Just want the dial pad to work while driving-safety feature (instead of fumbling for the phone).
