Just installed my 5100s, tech took all the precautions and did not bend or remove the snap ring/c clip. Is it normal for the opening to look like this? The back side is completely flush. Test drive went well which included some minor speed bumps.

    Normal?

The coil seat is installed wrong. Needs to be flipped.

I would have it towed back. It is going to go very bad if you keep driving it.

Also, whoever the Tech was. I wouldn't let them touch the truck again. These come with detailed instructions with images. He apparently ignored that. I installed a set of 5100 on my buddies tacoma. Piece of cake if you read.

Should they be replaced or ok to just flip and reinstall?

As long as the ring seats back I don't see an issue. The coil seat holds in the ring tight to the shock tube and in place.

If it's bent beyond sitting right I'd say get another set of rings.

I’ve heard that shock releasing off its ring position can get really ugly.
    Good thing you caught that!

That would of been asking for coil bind. Or the ring failing and your suspension failing apart on the road.

Agreed on this 100%. You should not go back to that place. That is some serious hack work.

I would give a very good look to the ring and the groove. The ring has a ton of pressure on it. If it goes south bad damage will happen. Nice looking truck.

I’m sure they will get it done right. Especially with the fact that they know you are on top of it.

Wow! That could’ve been very bad if that ring had failed (which has happened) because of the flipped seat...while cruising down the interstate. If it wasn’t driven on I would think the rings should be fine.

That little ring kills me anyway... when I first had mine done I would cringe every time I would hit a speed bump thinking how the heck is this thing gonna hold all this weight and pressure!

Probably direct from bilstein. I'd have the shop but you a new set....then go get them installed elsewhere. The clip ring is bent and they put the spring perch inside down. What a bunch of hacks

Update, rings & shock housing are fine installing back in. They are doing the alignment. Any base line that I should use to check them.

Thank you guys for the look out. One of the main reasons I joined this forum. I’m grateful.

I'm just worried that the ring is damaged and now that the perches are installed correct you cant see the rings

They were inspected prior by a different tech and were completely apologetic.

    Here are the alignment numbers.

After I put on the Coachbuilder steering kit Dave Ekstrom sent me what he thought was perfect alignment specs for a 2 inch level and the caster was 2.5.

How it sits now. Alignment waiting to be redone per specs listed here. They’ve been pleasant once they figure out they f* up. Pretty close to level, easy to tell it was f*d
