Need advise

Just had coil overs installed today.
Before measurement
Driver front =36 3/4
Passenger front = 37

After measurement
Driver front = 38 3/4
Passenger front = 39

I want to retain the factory TRD wheels and use the Nitto Ridge Grappler.
I’m torn between sizes, 275x70x18 with 1 1/8 wheel spacers or 285x70x18.
I’m not sure I could use wheel spacers with the 285x70’s.

Can someone offer me advise on the selection of these two sizes.

 

I’m leaning towards the 285’s.
They are $100.00 and some change more than the 275’s.
I’m not seeing that much rubber difference.
But I only want to cry once.
I would hate to go with a tire too small that I hate.

 

I pulled the trigger on the 285x70x18 today.
They are going to order them in and check fitment. If all goes well I should have pictures to post Monday.

Do you mind sharing what wheels you’re running and the offset.

 

Also...do you mind sharing what brand slider or board that is.

I had ordered Spidertrax wheel spacers when I was in limbo about tire size.
Does anyone think I could use the spacers with the 285’s and factory TRD wheels without rubbing.

You should be able to.

 

Test fitting one now.

 

Gained almost 1 inch of clearance.
Rubbing on skid plate which is an easy fix.
Wish I had went 295x70x18.
Will post more pictures after wheel spacers.

I’m going to try the Spidertrax 1 1/4 wheel spacers and see how the fit and look.

OP I think those 285/70/18 are perfect. There isn't a huge height difference in them and the 295's, but according to Nitto's website, those 295's are 10 lbs heavier per tire! Going from stock, the 295's definitely will impact some power and mpg, as they are about 20 lbs heavier than stock tires.

Not sure how, but the website says my 275/70/18 ridge grapplers are almost identical weight to the 285/70/18 at roughly 58 lbs. If I can stomach the $300 price difference in these sizes, I may go 285/70/18 next time haha.

Meanwhile I removed the running boards. While practical...they definitely didn’t do anything for the looks.

Got the spacers on and good to go. Totally changed the look.
