Accessory fuse box

I'm planning on adding an accessory fuse box for some ad dons that I'm going to install (lighting and radios). Has anyone else added one? Where's the best spot to run additional wiring through the firewall?

 

I was able to run my wire through the firewall right below the main harness. It sits right underneath the steering shaft and comes out nice and close to the factory fuse box and battery.

 

Do you have an accessory fuse box installed? I'm installing a Blue Seas 12 circuit box. I'm thinking under the hood is the best place then run everything into the cab where you suggested. I've seen some clean installs on Tacomas with a similar idea. Somehow the Tacoma seems to have a bit more room under the hood on the drivers side to build a bracket and install the accessory fuse box. I'm brainstorming mine now.

 

i know this is olf but im trying to do the same thing? do i wanna run a fuze box with 8 gauge wire running under my dash. also can i tap into the negatives of my amp

 

Do you mean use the same location your amp is grounded to? If so the yes. In a perfect world every ground would gound to the same spot.

I installed a Blue Sea fuse block and a ground buss. The ground buss is hidden under the hood trim, just above the fuse block. In addition to grommet beneath the steering wheel, there's one on the passenger side as well.

 

gorgeous! thats EXACTLY what im doing except behind my seat in the interior. what AWG did you use. i went with 10AWG.

im not getting power to the blue seas box. i have a strong feeling my ground is bad. i tried thoroughly sanding the grounding location, ill try grounding it along with my amp

 

Wire size is based on current draw and distance from the battery. You can use a chart like this to help determine what you need.

Since your Blue Sea is (I'm assuming) 100 amp. and your location is probably around 7' (maybe less), looks like 8-ga.

 

i have stumbled across that chart before. the way in which i have to route the wire from the battery across the hood from driver to pass. side gromet, and then under the door sil and then back to the rear seats of my double cab, and then back behind the driver side, believe it or not i ended up using about 15 - 20 feet. thats why i figured 10. there was no room to work under the hood and i mostly wanna wire up interior accessories. i also want the possibility of putting a relay back there to run a large light bar.
also, similar to a subwoofer/ amp install i have a fuse close to the battery terminal. is this recommended for a fuse box lol seems counter-intuitive
