I greatly appreciate this. Installed mine on my 18 last and just used this. Do we need to seal up the plastic covers on the motors to prevent water from Getting in there. Seems like they don’t prevent anything but debris.

This thread helped me with my install today. I could not find the pink w/red stripe to save my life. I finally popped the lower dash panel off and found the "red" wire on my 2018 CM Sport. Here is a picture to help all of those doing this install. Fourth pin down from the top, blue arrow points to the red wire.
    Cheers!

After installing the non-PnP on a 2014, all I can say is PnP all the way from here on out. If AMP hasn’t come out with them for ‘18s yet, I bet they will in the future.

Finished installing AMP power steps on my 18 this weekend. This thread was definitely helpful for the wiring portion. Similar to @J.M. and @r1-superstar, I also connected to the red wire for the driver side rear door (grey wire).

Going to upgrade the LEDs with LUX MAX Rock Lights. They are magnetic and super bright compared to the ones supplied by AMP.

I think I read somewhere that they offer an optional high strength adhesive mounting kit for plastic and fiberglass, but I could be wrong.

I contacted him through whatsap. Using the made in china app and global sources. I can give you his contact. Price may vary due to shipping. I paid $800 shipped to me. The steps are holding up nice. True test will be winter. Install took a little bit. Only thing i dont care for is how the front doesnt have a bracket so if your cleaning your windshield and step on the step it feels like it dips a little. My buddy is over 300 easy and got in and out no problem.

Hello everyone, newbie here.....so to all of you guys that contributed their bright ideas on DIY install on AMP research, thank you very much! If not for these guidance especially on the 2018 model, I may not have successfully install my AMP power step with override switch. By the way, Amazon is selling it $1,186.11 free shipping from regular price of $1,399 https://www.amazon.com/AMP-Research-75137-01A-PowerStep-Running/dp/B0041FVGEO. It took me 6 hours to install. I only have one minor issue (I hope) that I have been conferring with AMP. I have the dealership installed Compustar 2w901r-ss Remote Start and Security. And every time I use the remote start to start the engine and also use the remote start to shut off the engine, the drivers side power step deploys and retracts. I'm in the process of isolating which driver side doors (front or back) triggers this. Thoughts on how to fix this other than not using my remote start to shut off engine and not allow the remote start run to expire?

I dont have Amp steps but When I unlock my doors my step drops I believe on some of the remote starts that it has to unlock the truck causing it to deploy to start the truck

Yeah, but unlocking should not trigger the steps to deploy and retract. it should only be when opening and closing the door. I don't know man, but an AMP engineer is looking into it and hopefully they will find a solution. Thanks

For those who have installed the override switch from AMP - does anybody have pics of where they mounted it on the dash?

Didn't want to mess with the dash so the override switch was put in the drivers side kick panel. Easy to reach.

@jason.bird thanks for the pic. Didn't think about installing the switch in the kick panel, but might consider that as an option now. Where did you run the harness through?

I'm joining this late but did the install myself as well about 7 months ago. JM - you're on the right track with the blue wire. NKLNDYM's write up & pics are great and spot on!

I never got my rear driver side door to actuate because of the instruction error(s) you both point out. The Red/Pink wire behind the dash is significantly thicker and not in the right pin. I tapped into a different wire that IIRC was in the right pin but wrong color and the step doesn't actuate. It's bothered me but I never found a solution. All the other doors work.

I'm going to look for the thin Red/Pink wire next to the side of the e-brake. That was a great idea!! I'll post back if I get time to try it. Probably Friday.

Got mine installed last night. Took me and a couple buddies a little longer than expected, but there was a couple beers involved and we weren’t attempting to break any records.

Thanks for all the write ups in this thread. It helped a ton and saved me some time knowing what I needed to tap and where to tap!
