Rebuild vs Replace (Fabtech Dirt Logics)

I've got an older (all blue) pair of Dirt Logic 2.5 Coilovers that have been on the truck since i bought it about 5 years ago. The drivers side appears to be a little leaky and has started squeaking a bit down by the lower mount so they need to be rebuilt or replaced.

From what I read they seem to be mid range + so the question to rebuild or replace?

I don't have a ton of money to spend so i'm not looking for super high end stuff just good, durable, and reliable. Before reading up on the Dirt Logics I was thinking about going Bilstein 5100s all the way around, but after a little research I started thinking maybe it would be cheaper to just have them rebuilt. It seems like it would save me $ and I'd still end up with a pretty solid product?
Any advice or insights out there for me?

The truck is my daily driver so its mostly on the road, I commute on the freeway, haul stuff around, tow a light trailer (I'm and Ag teacher) and then get out to camp and fish on the weekends and in the summer.

 

I don't know a lot about the Fab Tech shocks but I'm guessing that 5100s would be taking a step backward. Personally, I'd lean toward rebuilding, and delve into possible valving changes/upgrades.

 

X2, I'd look into a rebuild first. My buddy had Dirt Logic coilovers on his Tacoma, they're older, but seemed really stout. Rode really well too.

 

Thanks Guys, that helps reinforce what i was thinking. I wanted to put it out there to see if there was something big i was missing.

 

You would be at a higher cost to go 5100, you would need new top mounts and coils to go with the 5100s. I would rebuild, but keep in mind your truck will be down for a few days.

 

Thats the only disadvantage with the rebuilding is the longer downtime. Plus side is the loads of money saved by not buying new shocks.

McTodd, Curious on what the parts rebuild cost is on Dirt Logics?

 

@Professional Hand Model, I've seen some rebuild kits for $16-30 for the seals and o rings but then you need the gas/fluids and the of course time and tools...i found a local shop that does rebuilds for about $70 so i'm going to give them a call tomorrow.
