    I think your Gross Combined Weight Rating is 16000 lbs.

    Thanks TJ. It wasn't in the owners manual and not included on the door jam plate. Ive read other posts using the 16,000 as gcwr but no reference as to where the info was located. I pulled my specs on Toyotas site using the VIN, everything but gcwr and ghwr was listed.

    Found it, 16,000 lbs is the gcwtr. My manual doesn't have a page 494-5, but your advice gave me doubt, so I went thru the manual again, it was located on page 484.
    Sometmes I work to hard on making simple things harder.

    Thanks for the welcome, I learn a lot and get really good ideas from these forums.
    I tow a 37' TT, dry weight listed is 7650, TW 750. I've been towing this for about 2 years. I've had two blow outs in three weeks. Put a set of the new Goodyear Endurance tires on today. Also weighed at a Cat Scale today for the first time, numbers were balanced good, total axel weight was 15,060. We live in N Florida, and mainly camp in the in the area, good flat roads, towing and stopping is not a problem. When we camp, i always like to see how many others are smart and use a Tundra for the TV. Usually there are only a few smart ones around. We love our 08 Tundra.

    Well that's a lot of trailer, but in FL, it probably works pretty good. Was your TW actually 750 lbs at the scales?

    Where the first two tires that blew out on you from the same side?

    To check tongue weight, you can:

    -purchase a TW scale

    -when at the scale, pull vehicle only on scale. Disconnect trailer (obviously the trailer jack cannot be on scale), see how much weight you lose. You can also just pull the towed vehicle onto scale, disconnect with just the jack on the scale (chock tires) and pull tow vehicle off scale.


    On the tires: when towing, is trailer level? I see TT not level a lot and this overloads one axle, and can cause issues.

    Thats a good point, the trailer and truck are level and the Tundra tows it smooth. This is our 2nd TT and the first issue we have had with tires. I really believe it was caused by the low quality tires that was on the TT.

    I purchased the Sherline Hitch Weight scale. The real hitch weight is 1,157, which is about 13-14% of the loaded TT weight.

    Just a bit more than was advertised right?

    I hope everyone sees this thread. The tongue weight advertised is often not what actual tongue weight is.

    My guess is that the TW listed doesn't include 2 propane tanks and the battery. Plus my Hensley hitch adds another 190lbs. Still without all of that, the TW is 140lbs more than listed, or about 19% more.
    It goes w/o saying, the payload is tapped out, without any cargo in the bed of the truck.
