Oil changed a month ago, still golden, not idling rough or sound any different, no leaking anywhere either. Fuel guage right in the middle, oil wasnt low.

I’ve read about this on tacomaworld, fjcruiserforums, and T4r since they have the same 4.0 v6. Search those sites and there are tons of threads about that p0022 code. Wish I could be more help but haven’t experienced this in my 13 4runner.

Just checking, but oil level is good right? Figured so since you know the color of the oil.

Well, pulled the battery terminal to reset the code, drove it a few times, started it multiple times and CEL stayed off...i did notice when i first started it it hangs around 1000rpm, then dropped to 750 when coasting at steady speed of about 35, but at one point it did dip to 500 when in drive but stopped

This happened to me about 30 miles after an oil change. 4lo flashing, check engine, and P0022 code. Sounded like engine was knocking too. Took apart oil filter and sure enough the filter had collapsed as someone had thrown out the metal support that goes inside the filter. Rechanged oil and got new support piece and she’s back to normal.

Is that an OEM filter? I'm unfamiliar with the paper "insert" filters like that. I've only changed two similar to that my entire life. Once on a dodge caravan, and once on a Pontiac G6

Maybe this is something they do with the newer Tundras, and @Thisisdumb has a newer Tundra, but doesn't realize this thread is in the 1st Gen forum which is leaving us 2000-2006 owners confused af.

My wife had this in her 2012 Highlander. I kinda like the cartridge setup, but the OEM canned filters we use in our 1st Gens are way faster to install/uninstall with no wrench, and that's more appealing to me than the cartridges.

Edit: I'm doubting that Korean-made filter is genuine OEM Toyota too. I'd definitely be using genuine OEM replacements if it were me, and you'd never see crap like that.

I've read threads here on the 2/2.5 gen tubdras talking about the TRD oil filter or regular oil filter. I believe they were filter media like that. Cartridges as you call them just makes me think of...

    :infantry:

I liked the oil filter thing on the dodge because it was right on top of the engine, and didn't make a mess, but the pontiac.... fuck that car. Anyways... I digress.

I prefer the canisters like we have.
