I have Method wheels and gorilla lug nuts (bought from discount tire). The gorilla lug nuts are chrome plated, but after a year they are rusting outside and in on the threads. Discount tire is replacing the set, and I asked for black to not deal with chrome. Any other recommendations on nuts?

For the threads I like to put a little never seize. I think I've read somewhere where they say not to. But I apply just a small amount and usually don't need to apply again for quite some time through many tire rotations.

I had the chrome ones from Discount Tire and same problem. Picked up a set of Black ET lugs from Vin at Stealth Custom Series and so far so good.

I'll give them a try. I also put anti-seize on the the thread to help until I find a quality replacement.

I have Gorilla "black" chrome nuts to match my rims. So far so good but only for a couple of months. I'll update after a few more months to let you know if black nuts are rusty. Nothing worse than rusty nuts. :headbang:

yep bank account is running low from it..
    Problem with YOUR NUTS.

Simple they where made in China. During the process they get away with very alittle plating (electrolysis) as possible on the nuts just enough so when you see opps you have a problem your warranty is out.

Tho copper sulfate (anti seize) will work on the treads it does nothing for your outside look.

For outside use a wax to keep rust down or use chrome polish to fan out the spots.

I paid about 97 cents a piece for my nuts (sounds weird). Cheap to replace. Bottom line, I'm not too worried about my nuts. After all, it's good Chinese crap. Better than the 50 cent ones. heh heh
(Obviously I'm due for some time off.)

An update on my nuts: Discount Tire replaced my rusty Gorilla nuts (for free!) with a West Coast Wheel brand and I ordered a set from SCS. Here is a photo comparing all three. The SCS nuts are shorter, and the tang part is also shorter, compared to the other two brands. All three brands use the same socket. I haven't mounted the SCS nuts yet to see if the shorter tang and body are an issue.

Bump, I have Gorilla ET black chrome lugs 26143ETBC. Looks like they're all rusting less than a year on the truck. Scrubbing works a bit, I'm sure if I spent enough time I'd get most of it off without removing them from the wheels. That won't last. Something I should coat with or other solutions if I'm stuck with them? Another brand?

I pay about the same and just get a new set every spring before the summer wheels go back on.

Are these just the chrome lug nuts from Gorilla? I replaced the chrome ETs from Discount Tire with the black Gorilla acorn nuts. Hoping the rust issue is not with the black ones.

    Black Gorilla ET's here.
I always anti-seize the threads, on everything.
I hit almost anything on my truck that I want to stay rust free with CRC SP-400 and more recently Amsoil MPHD. I hit the lugs with the Amsoil while they're on the truck and then quickly wipe the excess off the wheel. No sign of rust. I don't think I've ever had a set of nuts that haven't rusted in a few years. But my OEM lugs were still spotless after 9 years in use. Aftermarket just seems to skimp on coatings across the board on all products.
I am a little crazy with the anti-corrosive sprays though. I hit all suspension components, entire frame (inside/out), insides of bumpers, etc....

Sounds like whoever gets your truck when you’re done with it will be a lucky person! Not a spot of rust on this thing! I’ll take it

Had gorillas on my Durango and they rusted on me, had to replace them and made sure to not use gorillas on my SCS wheels and just ordered a set thru them and they appear well made, but living on the east coast in a shore town doesn’t help anything with all the salt exposure

I know this post is old but any updates on everyone’s rusty nuts? My SCS nuts are starting to get rusty now after about 2 years and looking for replacements.

I just ended up spot spray painting them between tire changes, cardboard with hole to mask the wheel. Functionally the nuts are fine and you have to be close up to notice. What I did replace were the old bulky Method hub caps that became spotty and faded, got these flush ones instead (not my tire, too lazy to go out and pic, same look)
