This one was pretty easy and the gun stays on there exceptionally well. It's held on by two neodymium magnets that are mounted to the side of the center console.

You'll need to position your seat accordingly so the gun rests comfortably for you while you're driving. I shouldn't have to say this, but obviously the gun shouldn't be there if anyone else is driving. The magnets won't get in the way if the seat has to be moved up.

Magnets (comes in packs of two):
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074BLMB22/

Hardware (all bought at Home Depot):
#8-32 x 1" flat head phillips machine screws
    #8-32 Nylon lock nuts
    1/8" x 1" Fender washers

Before you start make sure the magnets will stick to the gun you're wanting to mount! Only one side really sticks so flip the magnet over if it doesn't seem to be grabbing. These magnets are pretty damn powerful so you'll know it when they do.

Put the magnets on the gun and get a feel for where you want to mount it. Take your time on this and make sure the surface is flat so both magnets will be flush against the gun and fully engaged when the gun is attached. After you figure out where you want your gun to mount you need to approximate where the hole needs to be drilled. You'll need to pop the cover off of your center console so you can install the magnets.

There are a couple of fins on the inside of the center console that may get in the way of the washer depending upon where your have your seat. Pay close attention to those and know where the washer can sit so you don't drill a hole in the wrong place.

Use a drill bit that's just a little smaller than the diameter of the screw (I think I used 1/8", wasn't paying attention to the size). When you get your magnet and washer placement figured out drill a hole thru the center console, put the screw thru the magnet, put the washer over the screw on the inside of the center console and put the nylon nut on.

Tighten it all down until it's really snug. You'll need a box wrench or pair of pliers to hold the nut while you tighten the screw. Do the same for the second magnet.

    That's it!

Now that you're done playing with your gun (not a double entendre) go drink a beer/shot/keg!

Oh yeah, short of being dropped off a cliff, it ain't goin' anywhere. Did a little urban wheelin' (found some parking space curbs in an abandoned parking lot and rolled over several of them), went down some crappy dirt roads, thru some closed off, heavy road construction, and it didn't budge, rattle, squeak or even think about jumping off. It had a full mag +1 in the chamber. I'm happy and very confident that it's going to hold no matter where I go. Plus I got to get the truck a little dirty as a bonus.

Very nice! Problem for me is I’m a south paw which means I would have to mount it shotgun side and let the wife drive and that’s not happening.

Lol, yeah I guess the lefties would have to learn to switch it to their left hand if mounting like that. You could mount it to the door pocket if you don't mind showing it to the world when you get out I suppose.

I suppose I could learn to transfer hands.
Very well done! I’m going to consider doing it. I may not have it there the entire time but I could definitely see it’s usefulness.

It's awkward but worth the time put in. Practice drawing your gun with your off hand too...one day you may need to do it. Better to have the knowledge/practice and not need it than to need it and have no clue

Did the same thing, same spot, just a different mag (and gun). I'm a lefty but had nearly the same set up in my Jeep for years because there was no room between the seat and the door. Just take a little practice. If I have time to change to my left I can probably drive away from the trouble.

Lefties - mount to the bottom/under side of steering wheel area. As for shooting with your off hand, for sure should always practice every now and then. Also try to rack with your opposite hand - or just rack only using one hand (hint - use the heel of your shoe/boot).

That location defeats the purpose of the weapon being readily accessible.

In Texas, it has to be concealed. I figured in the console box would be close enough to reach and get target acquisition in time.

Question, Glocks being made of composite material will they work with the magnets?

The slide on composite pistols is ferrous metal. That's how I'm attaching my RP45. It would be the same for the Glock, et al.

It's been a year and my 45 w/a full mag has never even thought about falling off. I haven't done any jumps or anything ridiculous w/the truck, but the gun has endured some pretty rough trails.

Awesome write up Sas, any chance these magnets would work if they were mounted behind the plastic?

Hard to say, but you're likely going to mar up the plastic over time if you need to take the gun on and off.
