Old man emu lift?

I ordered mine from Toytec with the front coils already assembled and did it all in my garage with 1 set of Jack stands so it's not bad at all. You will still need an alignment even if you mark the cam bolts position.

 

You're from Aurora? Do you have OME 612s? How was the power loss from the 295s? Also, do you have pics of it parked on level ground? I'm having my 612 kit installed on 4/20. Also live in Aurora.

 

Wow..a fellow Auroraian... Yep..got the 612. Was considering the 613. Went wheeling to above Central City. Ride was fine so I'm staying with the 612s. My truck was level until I installed Toytec shackles to regain rake. Putting in Dakar leafs soon. What power loss? None.

 

Do you have pics of your truck on level ground? What was your approximate lift in the front? I have heard different heights with the 612s. Also having the Dakar leafs installed.

 

I’m wondering if the 613’s I ordered are gunna be super stiff? I have the arb Safari bumper on it now. No winch yet but plan on at some point... I also ordered spc uca’s so I figure that will help harshness slightly. Am I in for a literal and figurative shock?

613s are overkill with the Ranch Hand. I had the Ranch Hand with 612s and was a little stiff.

 

Ah shit haha. What amount of lift did you get with the bumper and 612’s?

 

No change at all. Still around 2 3/4". I subtracted the weight of the OEM steel bumper cover, bumper, and steel brackets from total weight of new bumper plus winch. About 170lbs. 612s should be good to go. If I was over 200lbs then I would switch to the 613s.

I went through a local shop called Baja North... I’m pretty stoked to see how this setup works. I’m sure it will kick the shit out of the stock one with 450000 Km’s on them haha

 

Well that was a long ass night! Got the front of my OME lift and SPC uca’s on. Passenger side was easy going (did it first too). Drivers side I fought every bolt. They were seized to shit. I guess 450000km will do that. Anyway I took my sway bar off too (I had to cut the links cause the bolts were seized on). My plan for the truck is max flex anyway. I also cut relief notches in the lower control arm shock bracket, so at max droop it’s not pushing the side of the shock (common failure point from what I gather). I’ll weld the back of the bracket solid to the control arm before I’m done as well. I screwed up and didn’t measure the lift I got but just by looking it’s for sure +3”. I’ll post a better before and after I’m the daylight. Rear Dakar’s and Daystar bag cradle’s to follow...

You have the 612 coils and got roughly 2 3/4" lift and used factory UCA? Curious as I'm eyeing this setup maybe in the future and was wondering how it performed with the factory UCA's. After running the factories what made you decide to go with aftermarket? Where there issues or are you trying to avoid future issues or failures?

 

I have the 614 coils. The OME setup is very popular and reasonably priced. Way better than OEM shocks.I still want to upgrade to the SPC's but quite frankly the OEM UCA's are working out quite well for now. I don't expect any failures at all, I just want to take advantage of the adjustability of the SPCs for best alignment.

 

2017 CM, 5.7 with no extra front weight I should go with the 612 correct? Should that be 2.5" as stated on ToyTec's website or would I get a little more? Would the 614 and no bumper put me close to 3" where UCA's would be needed?

 

It seems that most people get closer to 3 inches with 612.

Some vendors list 614 as the coils for 5.7 Tundras without any heavy bumper. I think you could go either way. 614 will give you roughly 1/2 inches more height. The ride is firm, but still very good, imo, with 614.

With 614, you probably will need a set of aftermarket UCAs though. Some people get away with the stock UCAs, but I just went ahead and got a set of SPC UCAs. With 612, you could probably just use the stock UCAs.

The 614s are the HD rated for the 4.6L. After trying them out off road a few times with my new winch bumper setup there is no need to go to the 613s. I'm less than 200lbs added weight. The ride is perfect. My stock UCAs aren't bottoming out on my coils but I do want to take advantage of the additional clearance with the SPCs.

 

Just curious how much are OME 612?

 

I bought mine less than a month ago had them assembled with a diff drop for $700.05 to my door.

 

Been on mine for a month or so. I don’t know what the springs alone cost. But my front and rear kit with UCa’s was $2200usd. I like it so far. I am wondering though, if anyone has heard spring creaking from the front coilovers? It seems to do it when I’m turning at full lock.

Appreciate that! I haven’t heard any creaking in mine at all. What’s odd is I had a cream from the rear pre lift. Now it’s gone magically.

 

Maybe it’s just settling in noise at first?
