    This truck belongs to Mike French. Moto X enthusiast and pre runner guy. It has 35 inch BFG AT tires with camburg upper arms, sway a way 2.5 coil overs. No lift in the rear. I'm wondering how much trimming he had to do to get them to fit? In the video this is from he is adding 1.25 inch spacers to help rubbing in the front.

    I'm currently looking at 285 70 18 tires. They're roughly 33.7 by 11.4 by 18. I'm damn tempted. . .

    I think so too. I'm also a fan of big tires.

    After seeing a decent number of guys running 37’s on 2-3.5” of lift on 2nd and 3rd gens in the last year, I’m not surprised by this on a 1st gen. I’m betting he had to do a healthy amount of trimming though.

    I have a 2 inch spacer kit, but am planning to go to Bilstein 5100's at the top notch. Kinda leaning towards a new set of rims too. Something in the 33 inch range for tires with a 16 inch rim with 4 inches of backspacing.

    I can see that he cut the front bumper cover. You can see the angle cut where the front of the tire would hit it.

    I have 18x9 inch rims. I'm curious if I could fit a 33x12.50-18 on it. :yay::yay::yay::yay:

    I have a 03 on 315/70/r17 duratrac's which are just shy of a 35. I have a 6 inch lift in the front and about a 4 inch lift in the rear. The rear has plenty of space in the wheelwells. Although the front I had to take off the mud flaps and trim the bumper. To keep from rubbing in full flex. I would also highly recommend regearing if you're going to step up to 35's.

    That looks really good!!!! I just went to 33's. I need to look into regearing as my Speedo is off by 5mph. I do want that 6 inch lift too!! Just not on the budget right now.

    Thanks man. I almost went with a 5 inch tuffcountry lift and 33s. But I didn't hear the best things about that lift. So I went with the 6-inch rcd lift instead. The lift itself is kind of pricey at $2,500. But where it really gets pricey is all the other things. Like rims and tires and regearing. And if you have your differentials taken apart for regearing you might as well put in a locker. The locker also requires an air compressor. And if you're going to get an air compressor might as well get a tank for it. Then I didn't like the idea of blocks for a lift in the rear. So I had custom leaf springs made. All in all I have about 8,000$ put into the truck. It sounds like a lot but I love the way the truck drives and looks. Plus the truck is a lot more capable off-road now. If I had to I would do it all over again.

    Not all of it. I have a good friend that is a mechanic with his own shop. He helped me with a lot of it.

    I recently bought a used '05 with the same lift. The rear is in need of some freshening up and I also don't like the 6" blocks. Where'd you get the custom springs made? Also, did you go with longer shackles to make up for the more flexy leafs?

    "Fit" is loosely used. I've seen videos of his and he didn't cut much out (unless he changed later). He hits frame when turning and bounces off the body often. From what I have seen his pinch weld cut is exactly like mine and I barely fit 285/75.

    A few guys have done the real tub job for 35s, I've seen about 6 guys who did it and it's a bold move. I'm still on the fence about doing it it myself.

    Why do you think I'm looking for a leaf/shackle combo that will give me 6" of lift in the rear?

    The lift kit only comes with 4 inch blocks. With a 6" in the front and 4" in the rear it's supposed to make the truck sit level. When I got the leaf springs made the truck did set level. But they have since sagged a little bit so now it's sitting a little bit low in the rear. It has the oem shackles on it. I am looking at doing a shackle flip kit. This way I'll be able to get longer shackles to get it level again. I got the leaf springs made at Sacramento Spring. I love the added travel and flexibility well still being able to to hold a load in the bed.20171005_171345.jpg 20170924_114051.jpg

    Thanks. The guy I bought the 1st Gen from told me the left was set at 6" but it was adjustable to 4" but would need 4" blocks for the back so that's what I have been assuming. You got me thinking, so I went and measured the blocks. They're 4". Now I'm thinking of getting some 2"-2.5" springs, do a shackle flip and get rid of the blocks.

    Do you rub that much with 285/75r17’s that you’re considering a tub job?

    I haven't found a company that makes a shackle flip kit specifically for the first gen Tundra. This is what I was going to go with.
