I want to add a 3/1 leveling kit to my 2018 Tundra TRD Sport 4x4. I currently have 31" tires, but I would like to move up to a 33" tire. The dealership told me if I add larger tires, it is going to mess with my gearing. Does anyone know if this is true? I want to add a little something to make the truck look better, but I don't want to mess with the warranty or cause any issues with the truck.

Welcome from Texas, let's see your ride, you can fit 35's , as far as 33's is concerned, no it will not affect your gearing, that would be 37's on up

    See fine print
I ran both 305/65/18 which is a 33 and now am running 295/70 which is a 34.5. Both fit fine w minor trimming. Just don’t get any wheels with an aggressive offset. Try to stick between +18 & +25.

I just got a 3/1 on my 14 CM with 295/70 which I believe are right around 34.5. No issues whatsoever and the truck rides amazing. Can’t say if it had any effect on the gearing as it was sitting on 20’ with 33’s when I get it but I can tell
You it’ll light up the tires with ease when I want to. Here’s a pic, hope it helps.

I've got 33x12.5x20 tires with a level and it only rubs occassionally on reverse. Wheels have a +12 offset. Hope this helps.

Go with 295/70’s or 35’s, 33’s will look small with a 3/1. The bigger tires will make the truck feel a lil sluggish, but we do have better OEM gearing for adding big tires than other brands.

If you go more than 2.5” of lift I would reccomend going with 35” tires or the 295s.

Lifted tundras can really swallow up tires. A lot of people run 33”(285s) on stock suspension no lift.

I've got 275/70/18 all stock and no issues at all, they're 33" but factory 11" width.

I'm definitely wanting to run 35's with a 3/1 but am unsure if possible. I have the 20x9 tforce rims I'd like to keep if possible as I like those rims. I do have fender flares as well, and the goal would be flush if possible. Not sure what I need to do to accomplish this. Praying that cutting is not needed. Any suggestions?

Shouldnt be an issue at all, many people are running 33's and 35's with just a level kit.

I think you should be fine, depending on your offsets or how aggressive your wheel sticks out now, if its not too aggressive you might get away with just having to trim the inner bumper, but not having to do a body mount modification.

@Rngr188 What brand tire? I’m considering same size on stock 18” rims but know brands vary quite a bit. I like the Falken Wildpeak’s @ 33.4”....concerned about rubbing on stock set up. Have your same truck just 2018.

Dealers are dumb. A big ass tundra can handle some beefier tires no problem. The fact that they come with such small tires to begin with is silly.

Steel bumpers front and rear,1.4" bilstien, KatSkinz Leather, rear airbags, halos.
Been thinking of this for mine, just waiting for the Hankooks to wear out. I've got 1.4 inches up front on the bilstien 5100s and just added air bags to rear. Got the steel bumper so no concerns about interference there and that's partially the reason for the bilsteins to handle the weight of the bumper. I've got the 20 inch factory wheels and no plans to change them but the tires do look kind of anemic on there. I do have the factory flares so maybe a problem there. Anybody know? I'm concerned about towing too. I use it a lot for towing.

Here is what 275/75/18 (33.2") looks like with a 3/1 kit. It doesn't mess with your gearing. IMG_20180616_161432.jpg

Nice truck! Did you do a true 3/1 or Bilstein 6112’s in front? If you did a 3/1, which did you go with?
