I recently upgraded my sound system and am getting an annoying rattle from the map lights. Anyone have ideas how to quiet them down?

Let me know what you did to quiet them down if it works. I’m thinking some foam pieces shoved in there might keep it from rattling.

GNTundra did you ever get rid of the rattle? I took off the map light panel and can't come up with a solution. Is there a way to take apart the entire assembly? I'm thinking if thats possible I could probably glue some fan on the sides of the clear light cover making it snug against the housing but from the looks of it the panel can't be taken apart.

Are you referring to the entire headliner piece that houses the sunglass keeper? You can pull that whole piece down and take it apart. I installed blue LEDs for my interior lighting and didn’t pull the entire piece at the time but did the whole thing later for my CB install.

I got the entire panel off but want to separate the black rear piece from the front part. What’s rattling is the light covers which are also used to turn the lights on/off. There’s a little bit of play in them which rattled when the bass hits.

You can pull the clear plastic lenses out by themselves. Just take a small flathead screwdriver, or butter knife, and gently pry them out. I did mine like that.

You need a T20 Torx Driver to undo the screws. I believe there are only 4-6

I used some Felt with sticky backs for furniture legs to quiet down all the compartment doors in our 07. The glove compartment(s), console, Anything with latching doors. Placed close to latches. There was a sheet with various precut circle sizes, 1/2", 3/8", 1/4" etc. Even cut some down as needed.

The light covers / lenses are meant to move. Maybe you could fit a piece of felt in somewhere to take up any slack. Maybe try using clear/white velcro with sticky back, the soft side.

Very easy tool 5 mins max. Pry out the panel in front of the sunglass holder and you’ll see to screws, take them out then two more in the sunglass holder. Once they’re out unplug the wires and done. Make sure to support the panel when removing the last screw.
