I am getting all 4 corners of my Tundra upgraded to the Bilstein 5100's. I'm not installing a block on the rear. What setting should I use for the front? BTW, I'm getting everything done including labor and alignment for $500!

The front would depend on what look you want. Im going to leave mine at factory height.

If you go to the top setting, there is a LOT of preload on the spring that may make it a little harsh and give you SUPER fast rebound.
If I still had them, Id do the 2nd to top setting at MOST.

Also i've been reading and some people have been installing a .25 shim. What is the reason for that and is it necessary?

I had 5100's installed on my 1st Gen. It rode WAY better than the stock susp.
My '04 was getting a little old, had 210K miles on it and I was itching for something new, so I got an '18. Put ADS on the new truck and it blows away what I had on the 1st gen.
5100's on my 1st Gen really weren't that bad though. Just not Fox/King/ADS quality.

I am in the same boat. I have the 5100’s and getting them put on with 295/55/20 cooper stt’s factory wheels. I will be going with the middle setting. They are putting all 4 shocks on and alignment for $350. Most places around Houston Texas are $300-450 for the 5100’s installed.

I've been looking at the 5100s also. If I already have factory Bilsteins all around (TRD off road package), will the 5100s still give the same lift or would I be wasting my money?

I purchased the tires when I bought the truck and they are the stock size. Going to research that next and head to Discount Tire.

Can you do 5100's on the front and leave the rear stock (I had a TRD OffRoad) with no shims, shackles, etc?

While I love my Tundra and would never go back I do miss the simplicity of the solid axles on my past Jeep Wranglers.

Yes but for an extra ~$150 you can just upgrade all 4 and still leave rear at stock height. Lift comes from springs/shackles/block/spacers, not the shocks.

If you purchase 4 shocks or struts from 4wheelparts.com they will install them for $50 and not charge any tax if you have a location near you.

2017 CM Limited 4x4, all stock, 20" wheels, 275/55/20s, and would like to get to a taller tire without lifting. Planning to add the TRD sway bar as well.

If I go with 5100s. can I get to 65s or 75 height tires without cutting or a lift kit.

Will the 5100s get me there?

Sick truck! I'm thinking of getting 5100's and am wondering... since you have it on the middle setting, do you still have a little bit of rake?
