    12’ Tundra

    - 3 times replacing the drivers side seat belt guide. Not sure if something was wrong in manufacturing, but the seat belt would cut into the guide and almost into the interior panel. On the 3rd time, the dealership told me after that, the 400.00 job was on me, even though I was under 36k miles.
I went home, put on my engineering hat and came up with a solution. Longer bolt purchased, shimmed guide out more. No more issues for 2.5 years.

-Recall work done for AIP system.

-Truck had a growling sound coming from the front end. I thought it started around ~60k miles. Around 68k miles it was obvious. I did a little of my own recon on the issue using the FIR gun at work (heat sesnsing). Both front bearings were cool after 20 miles of 75 mph. Pretty sure that wasn’t the issue. On my own research, the front differential, drivers side needle bearing was failing. Very common on Toyota’s with 4wd.
Took truck into Toyota. We fought a little bit about having 6112 shocks on the lowest setting (.75” lift). They said it was definitely the front drivers side wheel bearing and it would be 1000+ to fix. I pulled out my Toyota Care card, handed him 75.00 and asked when it would be done.
That was repaired, and did not fix issue. I called the Service center 3 blocks away from the dealership. I knew that it wasn’t test driven.
Took truck back in. They offered the ECGS bushing fix, no warranty, 600.00, for Toyota’s shit design. I told them they can repair it under warranty. Then they said it would take some time.
I went to the North Dealership and they ordered me a front differential (overnight) and had me completed the next day. 2400.00 was the bill, I gave them my Toyota Care card again and another 75.00 in cash.

That’s about it. Sold the Tundra ~89k miles.

Thanks. I’m not to concerned. I’m 100 percent confident my work is more thorough and by the book then the stoners they slap in their oil bays. If I had a guy that would take my truck in like you do I would probably go that route.

Glad I about the Toyota Warranty. I think I have the 0 deductible but even at 75 bucks it will save me a grip if similar shit happens.

And Toyota says to retorque and grease the prop shaft. I know for a fact they don’t do that. I actually do. I’ve never had one that needed to be tightened though.

I m old school when it comes to oil changes. Used to do it every 3000 miles and then changed to 5000.
Have hard time digesting when dealer says, 10,000 miles.

Yeah, my ToyotaCare is runs out, Nov 14, 2018 or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first and I only have 13,000 on it!

I'll at least try one DYI oil change myself and see if its worth it, I did feel a sense of pride when I did them myself years ago!

    2008 with the 4.7L
134k miles (I bought it with 40k in 2011) - it was a leased vehicle that was well maintained.
The only "issue" I had was the AIP stuff back in 2015, but it was replaced under warranty. Other than that, all my trips have been routine maintenance with oil changes, spark plugs, transmission flush, brakes, and the timing belt/water pump replacement for the 4.7L. The timing belt and water pump is scheduled to be serviced every 90k miles on them.
