Bed rail tie downs

So far the only thing I don’t like about my 05 double cab is the lack of tie down options for the bed rails.
Anyone have any good suggestions?

 

I’ve been using a system to two fixed non stretching cords/ropes running from front to back that are hooked to the factory loops mounted on the front and back of truck bed. Those cords have a bit of slack (not much) and allow the use of the rubber bunges to hook a across onto each cord/rope depending on your cargo size. Its scalable and modular without much weigh/cost and/or drilling into your bed.

 

I have temporarily arrived at the same solution. I also tried to do the cool Unistrut mod, but discovered that the first gens don't have the mounting holes necessary. Here's my "progress" on that, so far. The next time I get around to removing the camper shell I'll drill some holes in the top of the bed side and try again to mount my DIY unistrut rails.

 

That adhesive you asked me about, which I have not forgotten, is the Liquid Nails ‘Fuze It’. You’d be fine drilling new holes for the uni-strut with that adhesive as a sealant. That uni mod looks cool and has its purpose, but I have found the modular bunge system is best.

 

I’ll have to look into some of these options, you can’t get anything for the stake pockets because of those stupid caps!!
