anyone know if this amp/DSP will fit under the passenger seat in a 2018 crewmax?

Thinking of using this with some Focals to fix this awful audio

Non JBL for what its worth

I’ve got the JL XD1000/5v2 under the passenger seat, and it is bigger than the one you’re looking at. You should have no problems

It looks smaller than the hd900/5 and has plenty of room under the front seat. Make a small amp rack for it (i have pictures of mine in the link in my signature)

I had to google it....i didn't know they made an integrated processor in an amp.

It’s fairly new, I think Kenwood makes one as well, but I’ve always used JL amps and have been happy.

Anyone know how much of a difference the DSP makes. I like my music and my audiobooks, but don’t need cometition grade clarity. Just want a natural sound.

Saves 500 bucks to drop the DSP, but everyone talks like it’s a worth the extra cash.

If you’re keeping the factory HU it will probably be worth it. I have an audio control LC7i for this very reason

DSP makes a HUGE difference. That is a great amp and has a very small footprint.

What's the reason for Focal's? also, which model? did you consider Hertz?

Because Focal’s are F’ing awesome..... I mean that’s why I use them. They can get expensive but worth it if you spend the money on the front channels and have the power to drive them.

I’ve always liked Focals for front and JL for thump. Just preference I guess. don’t have much experience with Hertz

Also I’m not a full fledged audio guru so I go with what I know works and my local trusted shop uses.

Ok, nothing wrong with focal if you go high enough in there line. I’m a Hertz guy. I was just curious.

And I agree on JL for the thump :) excellent clean deep power

Got the amp on a great memorial day sale. Going to wire it up, grab a pair of Focal k2s for front and rear JL C5s, build a box for a 12” and get a local audio guru to help me tune it. Have never used a DSP integrated amp so it should be an adventure.

i can testify to a dsp. non-jbl in my truck. i went with a FiX and a TwK. the difference is significant. the TuN software is not difficult to use. i did a little write up.

no worries. glad it's useful. the software is super easy to use. the one thing that makes the largest difference is the time delay. definitely fill in the speaker distances. also, use the parametric eq so you can get some overlap between the frequencies.

My plan is to spend 2 weeks tweaking it, and then get the local expert to fix what I screwed up haha.

Also I want to keep the center dash if possible, but it will have be be fed from the HU so I’m not sure it’ll work.

I’ll use the tweeters from the k2 in the corners and maybe a JL C3 in the middle. Just need to figure out how to integrate the HU fed center with the Amp fed speakers....the time delay and source differential should prove an interesting dilemma.

You would have to figure out how to disconnect the signal going to the center in the dash and power it by your amp.

If you leave it powered by the head unit, you will have a difference in volumes from the door speakers to the center. It makes your music sound terrible. Trust me...just ditch them.

I figured. I bet the ability to reset/image the source to center will outweigh actually using the center speaker. I’m an EE and a complete nerd, so I’ll tweak until I make it unusable and then get an expert to fix it....occupational hazard. FML haha

Do you measure from your head in your normal driving position to the speakers?

Where are you located? I may know someone in your area that can set up the DSP portion of the amp quickly for you.

Call SoundScape in Carrollton, I am pretty sure they are a JL dealer and the Owner Dan is pretty good at tuning SQ cars.
If not Tony at Sound Creations in Durant is a dealer and can help you out.

Met with Dan, dude knows his stuff. Learned a lot and have a whole new set of options I hadn’t considered with equipment, staging etc. they don’t rep JL but he said he has no issues tuning it as he has done it many times.
