Getting ready to finally do this. I think I have everything but RCA cables and speaker wire but I'd like a little feedback first.

I was thinking of mounting amp, FiX and TwK like this.

    Photo Apr 09, 5 47 04 PM.jpg

I realize that I'll have to extend the wiring from the factory harness to the FiX. I have the Entune harness from tech12volts. Is that reasonable or should I put the FiX under the passenger seat next to the factory harness and just run RCAs to the TwK? If I put it under the seat, is the best option to epoxy a piece of plywood to the floor?

Next question. Speaker wiring. Planning on running 12g to the sub and 16g to the door components. Yay or nay?

Anything else I should be considering?

I've got 8 rolls of Soundskins to get through as well. This is going to take awhile.

    Hello!

The wire huge is plenty and will work well for you. I’m running 16g. Wire with 200wrms through it :)

Where are you planning on puttin the amp and twk/fix? I put my amps under the rear seat (crewmax) and my Audison Bit One next to the jbl amp.

The sub box I had made has a spot to mount the amp. There’s actually enough room to add the FiX and TwK to it. That’s the picture I posted above. Box will go behind the rear seats.

Ok, you could buy speedwire to extend the jbl harness to the amps and have it all out of site (probably what I would do), which would be nice. It mainly comes down to what you want the install to be.

I like to be as clean as possible. All my wires are hidden, everything is symmetrical and not even noticed it is there.

Do you have more amps for the components or is that Rockford going to power it?

whoa. that stuff is perfect. i had no idea. thanks for the pointer.

no, just the one amp. it's 75w x 4 and 500w x 1. plenty of power for what i need and i just wanted to keep things simple.

Either way your going to have to run wires back and forth from under the passenger seat to the sub box. I would put the fix and twk under the seat and the amp on the sub box.

I'll see if i have a picture of the amp rack James made for me. It was a piece of mdf with a couple little feet.

Yea, I have used it a few times and it works pretty well. And a 5-channel will work just fine.

Honestly, just put it where you want! Be creative and have fun :)

The pic is where my amps are but I went overkill so I ran out of space.

Here's the amp rack for under the front passenger seat.

Here you can see the little feet. Not much too it. I used velcro to hold it down

Did you have the stock jbl amp? Or is that under the driver seat?

really? my understanding is factory harness > FiX > TwK > amp > speakers. if i mount everything to the sub box, what else is under the seat besides the factory harness? if i put everything under the seat, then it's just RCAs out to the amp. my knowledge is a little limited on this aspect of the truck right now.

thanks for the pics on your amp rack. so, you just velcro'd it to the carpet?

If you are running new speaker wires, then you only need to go from the jbl amp to your Fix, stock wires you would have to go back to the amp.

If you put the fix/twk under the seat then only rca and remote wire to amp is correct.

    Any other questions :)

Welcome and you can just screw into the foam, it’s dense enough....I haven’t hade time to make a board. I also thought about sinking the amps down into the foam for looks....idk yet

Do you have the jbl system?

You need to make the speaker wire connections under the seat for both input and output. It would probably be easier to just have the fix and twk under the seat and run rca's to the amp in the back and speedwire back to under the front seat for the output from the amp.

If you put the fix and twk on the box, make sure to get a long usb cable and leave it plugged in so you dont have to pull the back seats out if you need to change a setting.

Yeah i just used the hook side of some Velcro to hold the rack down to the carpet

truck does not have a jbl sub but there is a little box under the passenger seat. i haven't really gotten in there yet but would that be the jbl amp? yes, i'm going to run new speaker wire.

i'm sure i'll have more questions. thanks for the input.

with all you guys in the bay area, if the day job ever sends me back to san jose, we could try for a little meetup.

don't think so. after speaking with james, he said all i would need was the entune harness.

long usb cable is already on the list.

Gotcha. I dont have the jbl, so i'm not 100% sure about how the wiring will go, but i bet James will help you through it (i had to call him when i did my install).
Edit:I thought i read you DID have the JBL. My bad. Yours will look similar to mine.

Here's mine before i buttoned everything up

If you have the harness then you are good to go. The harness steals the signal after the amp (output side).

The amp just needs to stay installed. You are talking the amplified signal (post amp), so nothing has to return to it since you are running new speaker wire.

I’d be willing to give you my cell number if you wanna text/call me anytime.

What? Why would you keep the factory amp? You only need to keep it if you have the jbl system. OP said he doesn't have jbl system. Yank that factory amp out!
