Well, I got a leveling kit over a year ago, needless to say, I had no idea that I needed an alignment after it was done. I told myself that I'd get my leveling kit installed after I get some new tires. Well, new tire time has come. Got a set of duratracs

I got my new tires and took truck to get the kit installed and my tires aligned. The tech quoted me over the phone it would cost 550. After I went into the shop they said that it'll cost me 900. I asked why the change, they said it'll take 6 to 8 hours to install. I walked

I called another places they also quoted me 550 over the phone, I went in, they wanted 790 after they seen it. They said that it's hard to install and it might take all day.

I called the 1800 tech support number on the leveling kit, the phone tech told me I should be looking at 200 to 400 max to install spacers. He said it should take a experienced tech 2 hours to install or 4 hours for a DIY person.

I called the 1800 number again, the tech asked me of I had the trd off road package, I said yes, he then told me that I can only get a 2 inch spacer in the front, max. The tech said I should send the 3 inch spacer in and have it swapped for the 2 inch spacer.

Now my question is... should I get some bilstein 5100 and max them on the front and back and toss the leveling kit, or should I swap the 3 inch spacers for the 2 inch spacers?

If I wanted to keep the 3 inch spacers, what kind of shocks would I need to buy?

I want the front lifted as much as possible.

I'm only looking to spend around 700

I found a guy that'll do it for 300. I got his number after the manager left.

    Here's the kit I ordered.

3 inch front and 2 inch rear.

Welcome from AZ. Get rid of the spacers you will be much better off doing the 5100 or nicer coil over

A decent tech can do spacers in 2 hours. Spacers such as Procomp, for example. In coil spacers take a bit longer.

Bilisteins are a great option and you can set it as you’d like on the clip. If you wanted it level, you can do 3/1.

Okay, if I go with this option, what shocks should I go with? 2 of each of these? Or another better option for around the same price?

What's the best way to unload the spacers? Ebay? Haha.

Thanks for the detailed reply, what shocks exactly do you recommend? Thanks. I agree, I'm sure it'll take more than 2 hours.

I see the trend. I had no idea. I don't off road or anything of the sort, maybe a few jobs a year in the mountains, that's about it.

Do you wheel or just want daily comfort?

The 6112 is a great option too, but are more of a performance shock and may not be rebuildable.

Welcome. I started the same way - bought spacers and then returned them and bought 5100's for all corners. I set mine in the middle with 1 coachbuilder shim on each side for a total lift of 2" in front. I did not lift the back and I am level. Bilstein 6112's at the 3rd highest setting will get you ~1.9" of lift too.

Awesome guys. Okay, so I'll need the 5100's

    2
    Bilstein 24-232173 5100
    2
    Bilstein 24186971 5100
Will these fit my 16 SR5 TRD? Amazon said they will, but I'd rather ask you guys.

Is there anything else I may need? Total price. "Subtotal (4 items): $351.38"

I really like the kit that T-rex posted. But, it said that the exhaust will need to be modified. I don't know how much that'll cost.

I seen you're from Colorado. Who do you recommend for a install? (if you don't mind sharing.)

The rear shocks are easy to install the fronts are not bad they take some time but then need to be aligned

I think the tech was getting the TRD PRO and TRD Off Road mixed up. The TRD Off Road (which is what i have) can be leveled. The TRD PRO, with the upgraded reservoir suspension, cannot for some reason get the typical 3/1 level kits. Toyota put in my 3/1 ready lift for $350 with alignment.
