Is there no transmission dip stick on a 2015 Tundra?

Looked all over for it when I first bought the truck. Big fat negative!

Toyota has been doing this for a while. I don’t think that even the later first gen has a dipstick. My 05 4Runner with the 5 speed didn’t.

It was whenever they switched from the 4 speed auto to a 5 speed. Wiki says that’s 05-06.

lol its really not that big of a deal.. our sealed transmissions require so little work.. just do a regular drain/refill from the bottom if you tow. If you don't tow, do it less frequently.

So what does that consist of, just measuring what you took out and replacing the exact amount.?

Did you use Toyota branded ATF?

I am dealing with this very issue now. I spoke to one dealer and they said they do a "flush" and the other dealer said they have never done anything to them. I wonder what a transmission repair guy would tell you.

I haven’t done it yet as I only have 30k and my pops 4runner has only 40 some.. and neither of us tow but when I do I will likely use Toyota’s fluid. Dealership guys say it’s lifetime fluid but we all know nothing lasts forever. I’m going to do mine at 45 just to see what the color is like but if you regularly tow I would do it around every 30-45k.

Hell, i dont even think these guys will do it. They have shut me down on the conversation every time. Granted another dealer will do this "flush" for $$$ but if its not called for I dont want to waist cash. I dont tow alot once a week hauling a 16ft trailer with a mower on it during summer months and a RZR from time to time.

I don’t personally believe in this “flush”. Drain and refill is safe. A flush to me means they hook some pump up to it and flush a bunch of fluid through all the crevices. No thanks to that.

I do mine every 30/40k. I'm just like that. I've read world standard fluid wears out just like regular fluid does. But, there is a lead master tech in my shop that has an 05 4Runner with over 200k, still on the original fluid. He also runs Royal purple oil in the engine for like 12-15k before he changes it.

Look in your manual that came with the truck. It specifies what needs to be done and when.

They list a transmission fluid change at 60k miles for vehicles that tow. That’s when I plan on having mine done at the dealer.

Edit: this is from the 2015 maintenance log. Should be the same for all second and third gens.
