NEW Bi-LED Projector Retrofits (100% Plug N Play) *2 Options Available*

Has anyone had issues with fog on their MLED projectors lens? I have had mine installed for about two weeks and this morning I realized some fog buildup on both driver and passenger side. I don' think this is typical and wanted to see if anyone has any insight?

 

thats odd and no i wouldnt think thats the norm. i assume it burns off when they are fired up?
in for answers as im considering these as a retrofit

 

@eledobleu - do you have any thoughts on this projector fog issue?

 

I have brand new headlamps off my 17 Limited with leveling motors for sale. They'd be perfect to get that retrofit going. Let me know if interested.

 

By those being mled projectors, the rubber grommet in the back leaves a slight opening. Usually with hid the igniters can be wrapped around the grommet for a perfect seal. The mleds have nothing to use to wrap it around. Turn the lights on and let the heat remove the moisture, the y use some form of silicone around the rubber grommet center to seal

 

Why don't you do this as part of the retrofit if it is a known issue with an easy fix? The moisture in the light housing was frosted/frozen this morning.

 

This is a new issue as the MLED projectors has only been out for less than 2 months and the weather has just begun to change. Now that its noted this will be addressed accordingly.

 

Is this where you recommend using silicone to seal the back of the rubber grommet? Do you have a recommendation on a silicone? Can you confirm this will not cause any other heat/airflow issues to the projector?

 

I recommend ordering TRS 80mm housing caps and cutting a hole that just fit the cable through. This would be a lot cleaner than silicone. But if you use silicone just place it around the hole and fill. There will be no heat issues as they were designed to be sealed inside the headlights.

Despite the 18 degree temps and having to work outside, today I installed my new lights. They’re triple black Morimoto MLED retros with Panamera shrouds and LED strips. I did the switchback installation and DRL delete with them. They look great and the light output is so much more than the OEM 2017 Limited lights they replaced. The M on the ground is more visible than I realized it would be. The fog lights are Baja Designs Squadron Sports with the clear driving combo lenses that I had installed a few months back and they look more yellow than the new headlights.

(Pay no attention to my Christmas wreath still up in January - I spent my free day doing mods on my truck instead of the house projects I should have been doing ).

 

They look great. I didn't realize the M was that prominent either, if have to do something about that.

@eledobleu did the retrofit. The light output from them is pretty incredible and the cutoff is so sharp it’s easy to get them aligned well. I’ve only been able to see the M on the ground in my driveway on light colored cement. Driving around I don’t see it at all.

Night shots are tough with a phone camera while driving. Here is one from a highway with no streetlights, no other cars on my part of the road and just low beams. I’ll try to get some others.

Considering I used to frequently wonder if my OEM lights were actually on at night, it’s a HUGE improvement.

 

May be off topic, but how do y'all get the headlights tinted in the outside?

 

Anyone have a LED strip that just quit working? My driver side did. I ran out of light last night to finish checking all the wiring. I did the DRL delete to activate the swithcbacks. Passenger side is fine so fuse is good and the lead from the IGN fuse is powered. I believe the ground to the light is good too because it works fine in turn signal mode. Not sure what I am going to do if I have to send back under warranty. My next and maybe last step is to check for power to the red lead out of the LED. If that fails I guess I will wire LED straight to the battery. Planning for the worst but hoping for the best (like loose wire or connection in the cable).

 

Get a multi-meter tool and see if you can properly detect power. Start slow and go piece by piece to narrow down the cause. You'll figure it out I'm sure.

 

I did. It is the male end of quick connect on light side. I unplugged and when I put it back together I notice that right before it latched the light came on. Cleaned prongs and did a little bending and it works. Probably needs a different connector but don't want to mess with the thin ass wires if I don't have to.

Nice install. I have these as well and love the light output and the look of the switchback LED turn signals and DRLs. But I find the Ms in the beam kind of ridiculous. How do you block them out? Does it have to be done when they’re being built?

 

Yeah, it has to be done when they are being built (or if you can somehow get inside to do it). Most people put some aluminum tape over the M or something. I, personally, don't find them distracting and are somewhat a conversation piece at times.

 

Thanks for the info. It’s not a huge deal but if it was something I could do now I would. Certainly not going to open them up though. I see the Ms every time I park now since I installed a front camera and FRAC harness.

 

Is there a website somewhere that shows images of the shrouds that are available for these. I don't know much about retrofits other than they look so much better, are brighter, and I want some of i can afford them. I'd like to see different shroud options. Thanks

Yep, that's correct. Just remember that if you are doing a Bi-LED (or other similar with that projector housing), you can use all shrouds but “Mini” or “Square” I do believe.

You can also have them painted as well. I went with the normal turbines, in black, for mine.

Same here ... Can go a little higher but I rather not.

 

If you can get retrofits for $500, I think the person you got them from did it for free. All the parts that go into them cost almost that so you’d be hard pressed to do it yourself for that much.

They’re expensive for a reason. They’re awesome. And it’s a lot of work to build them. Good luck with your search tho!
