I’ve used the drain tool three times now - twice on the Tundra and once on a friend’s Camry. Not a purchase I regret.

Any tips other than the curly cue hose? I notice the fitting is two pieces do you leave the male thread all the way screwed in to the adapter? If you know what I mean.

Did mine at 600 to get anything left after initial assembly of the engine . Doing the oil and filter change is easy enough with the filter drain tool and the filter wrench . So,I can’t see installing the canister filter adapter . But , I am going to have an RCI skid plate before the next oil change .

Back the knurled nut on the drain tool all the way back, remove the drain plug from the bottom of your filter housing cap, thread the drain tool in snug by the hex nut. Then turn the knurled nut in (clockwise from bottom) which opens the valve inside the filter cap so the oil drains down the hose. Remove in reverse once the filter is drained. Very easy, and mess free.

Awesome! Exactly what I wanted to hear. And I completely understand your description.

I’ve only put about 1800 miles on my truck in the last six months. I may have to change the oil sooner. I always used the adapter that comes with the filter to drain the filter housing. It worked for the most part but was still kind of messy. I like tools like this. It looks and feels more professional.

So other than convince and environmental it doesn’t buy us much for our trucks... like better filtering? I guess we get an extra quart based on the spam guys info. Lol.

Well call me a tree hugger. The small amount of mess that our cartridge style filters make is minimal compared to the waste of a spin on filter. I don’t really mind the cartridge anymore. Actually kind of like it now. I bought the aluminum canister and am looking forward to installing it.

    Was it cartridge or canister?

I see that I have managed too upset, tick off or anger some members. If I have I offer you my apology. I was simply trying to tell other Tundra owners of an American product that I think highly of. I gained oil capacity, ease of changing, and American built, American bought .

Likewise. That will make the oil change so easy.
