    Whats up!
I am goin to be upgrading my 2015 sr5 with a complete JL audio system. I currently have a 10" JLw1 sub, and will be adding front and rear JL c2 650 components.
Here is the kicker, I'm going to attempt this install myself-maybe help of a friend who knows less than me lol. Im def a beginner on this field! I have all the wires and power wires ran because of my current setup. I also will have a plug in play entune harness(which will save me alot). Im pretty confident on getting the door panels off and seat out, but my only hesitation is mounting and connecting the crossovers and the front and rear tweeters- which I'm mounting the front tweets in pre drilled oem sail panels. Wiring and splicing is NOT my specialty!

Can anyone provide any info, tips, tricks, and especially pictures to help a brotha out!? I appreciate it! TIA

Best thing to do is watch the ********* youtube videos for install help. they go through everything step by step.

Figuring out where to mount the crossovers is the hardest part. Takes a couple tries.

do you have a list of everything you are going to install? You'll need speaker adapters for front and rear doors. What amp are you using? Are you going to use a LOC?

Thanks for the reply danimal86! I believe I have everything needed. I ordered everything from tech12volts, James Randy Taylor. That guy in company is awesome. I'm beginning to become a little bit more confident, and I've been watching those videos rigorously. This is a big thing for me and I'm pretty excited to try to attempt it. But, I do have everything including the brackets , wires , adapters , harnesses , everything.... like I said, my only concern was mounting the crossover in the correct spots. Do you have a system, or did you do an install or something like this? I appreciate your help in time!

James is the man! I bought the majority of my gear from him.
I did the install myself (see link in my signature):
    JL HD900/5
    JL Fix86
    JL C5-650 (front)
    JL C2-650 (rear)
    JL Stealthbox w/ 2 10tw3
    JL amp kit
Entune harness, speaker adapters from James.

Check out my stereo build log, i'm pretty sure i took a picture of the door with the crossover mounted. Look at the back side of the door panel and you will see what room you have to work with. I used a piece of double sided tape until i found a spot that worked, and then used a self tapping screw to secure it.

The install took a full day (from about 9am to 6pm). It wasn't super difficult, just time consuming.

Yes sir he is! That guy and his communication is on point! I love that because guys like me need all the help we can get. I have all my wires already ran, so I'll just have to do all the components in the doors and then id be done. I currently have a 10 inch sub that he built already hooked up and I love it. I'm doing the C2 650 s in the front and back. So how does your system sound? I can't wait to hear mine, I bet it sounds a thousand % better than the factory crap. I didn't see a link to see your build info can you resend it, or private message me? If you have any pics or anything that would be great. I appreciate it dude!

Right now I'm running a zapco that he suggested for my sub. But I'm replacing that with a 5 Channel JBL amp. I wanted to go JL amp, but that was way out of my budget LOL. He said his JBL will be just perfect for what I'm wanting to do and run the whole system, I trust him! Yeah man, I'm excited to get this thing Rockin.

Awsome! I'm planning on keeping this truck forever, so i went all out. I could have gone with a less expensive amp and gotten the same results, but i've always been a JL fanboy.

Are you going to use a loc (like the fix86 or audiocontrol lc7i) or are you using the speaker level input on the 5ch amp?

I also went with a set of oem sail panels that have the grills for a clean look.

A line out converter brings the signal coming from the head unit and converts it to an rca connection for the amp.

Some amps have speaker level inputs that take the signal directly from the headunit, amplify it, and output to the door speakers. I'm guessing you will be using the speaker level inputs if James didn't set you up with a Loc.

Gotcha! He may have already had, on the first time I installed my sub. I will not have to get behind the head unit on this install either, so we'll see. We'll probably get a chance to install it Sunday. The goodies arrived on Thursday.

Why C2 in the rear and not the C5?

Not sure, he just suggested using those and a lot of other members do the same and it works in sounds good. Like I said he's a straight-up honest guy, and I trust his judgment.

That might be it! LOL I don't need a show quality system, just a good system that sounds good that's got to be better than the stock shit!

It really sucks that the third gen Tundras have such lousy JBL systems. My 08 and the three Siennas before all had 6 disc JBL systems and I thought they sounded great or fantastic for stock with cds. Are 2018 still considered third gen? And did their systems get any better or do they suck just as much? Peace. D

Well it' bad all around, JBL or not. Maybe on the next redesign they step there game up. Sad for a 40k+ truck the sound system blows lol. Got my little upgrade all done and it sounds amazing. Just what I was wanting. Few pics....

I would just like to say to the snobby audio files at stereo stores and dedicated Toyota stereo shops that they are all full of shit everyone says there’s no way you can do anything to a JBL system except change it you can’t add a sub you can’t do this you can’t do that let me Telya I went and got a kicker amplified sub snipped the blue and white wire that feed the stupid stock sub why are the amplified kicker subwoofer right into that Ran power wire to the battery and grounded it and it sounds great I don’t plan on going to any audio contest or jerking off while listening to classical music and for my purposes it’s more than enough so quit letting these guys tell you there’s nothing you can do about it
