Pretty simple. Who's running an add-a-leaf?

Looks like toytec and tuff country are the two most common. Currently have a 1" block that I'm trying to replace with a better option.

I am most interested in an AAL because it will increase the load carrying capability of the leaf pack. I frequently run with some sort of load or cargo in the bed, frequently carry dirt bikes, tow a boat through the summer, and pull a 28' camper.

Not interested in shackles or an entire replacement leaf pack. Really looking for those with add-a-leafs currently installed on their trucks. If you have one....Brand? Estimated rear lift? Satisfaction?

IMO, an AAL is a great cheap temp solution. It adds height and may increase payload. However they do have a tendency to "W" your springs over time especially if you carry weight. It's nothing more than an extended overload leaf. They also tend to squeak which drove me insane lol.

Considering the loads you frequently run I would consider CB shackles (also had +2s installed) or a new leaf pack. Or even a leaf pack expansion.

    And to answer your questions:

Toytec AAL, about 1.25" rear lift (CM), made rear end stiffer with more "buck".

I am running the Icon AAL it lifts the rear about 1.5 inches. It has only been on for few months but so far so good

I have Deaver aal from Toytec. I got 1 & 3/8 inches of lift in the rear. I was worried about the ride (read a lot of reviews) but the ride is not bad at all. The rear doesn't sag as much when loaded.

I have the ICON 1.5 AAL purchased from Toytec. I went with that because it adds secondary leafs while keeping the factory main and overload leafs. They advertise it adds about 1.5" of lift but I got closer to 1.25". Since you retain the factory overload it supposedly has the same load capacity as stock. I also have the Coachbuilder +1 shackles for a total of about 2" of lift in the back. I think the ride quality and bed bounce is about the same with the AAL and shackles as it was stock.

Honestly, I’ve lived many places, and always lifted every truck I’ve owned. There has always been some kind of spring shop near enough to go to. Before you buy an add a leaf see if one is near. Call them, tell them what you want. Might be surprised what something made just for your needs cost with a little bit of your time.

And I’ve tried many add a leafs, they all either squeaked, sucked, or both.

The RXT leaf pack looks awesome, and if I wasn't frequently hauling things or hooking up to a trailer this would be the route I would go. Icon does advertise the RXT as decreasing the spring rate, so this wouldn't work for me, or at least not help me.

The Icon expansion pack has a lower spring rate than stock. It initially looked like a really nice option, but ultimately I don't think it's right for my application.

Shackles would be easy, but again, I'm left with a factory leaf pack that will still handle weight the same way.

The add-a-leaf seemed like an easy solution to 2 issues. I want to remove my 1" block, keep the rear lifted, and I would like to improve load carrying ability slightly. But it looks like most have had mediocre results with an AAL.

My truck came with an AAL. Not sure at all what brand but at least an inch. No issues so far. Using ToyTec shackles. I plan on swapping to the Dakars at some point to complete my OME setup.

The RXTs are multi-rate and configurable depending on the amount of constant weight you carry. This was one of the reasons I went this route since I constantly haul and tow as well. Many guys that have these are running bed racks and rtts. @dcsleeper408 just reconfigured his to account for his weight in the bed. I'll be doing the same when I get my chase rack and before boating season.

AALs are a good option and def an upgrade from the block. Everyone's needs and setups are different so there isn't 1 "best" solution. The 1 common factor though is regardless of our setups we are all chasing that perfect rear setup lol

Anyone else running an AAL or the RXT pack and towing regularly?

Looking for longevity of options that frequently carry weight.

i had one on my tacoma for about 150,0000 miles, i never had any issues with it. i towed trailers and threw way more weight in the bed than i should have on numerous occasions.
i am going to put one on my tundra in a couple months when i lift it. i never had any issues with mine making noise. i remember seeing on Tacoma world of folks having issues with noise and they would cut a bicycle tube and put it between the leafs.

I have the icon add a leaf 1.5" and its super bouncy in the back vs stock, is that normal? Could they have possibly installed it wrong because they did the first time by not removing the stock secondary leaf. It also looks like it added more than 1.5" of lift.

My truck came with the hellwig's AAL and leaf spring helpers. Previous owner i believe hauled horses.

Currently i havent really had to load/haul anything other than the tools i use during a typical day. The LSH(leaf spring helpers) i ended up removing.

The ride quality wasnt bad but on a few spots here and there that i travel it was noticable.

Subjectively the ride quality a person experiences is a comparison vs their last vehicle. A truck with a little hop and a skip here and there is what i expect and am accustomed to. Someone who is coming from a luxury feeling ride probably wouldnt be able to stand being in a truck that felt like mine did.

    Wow, luckily noone was hurt/killed.

On another note, I added a wheelers add-a-leaf. Greatly reduced the sagging while trailering, rides just like stock. Only thing is it lifted 2" Instead of 1" as advertised. After a few thousand miles it has not settled. Not a bad thing, but with 5100s on top setting on the front, the rear is still 2" higher like the factory rake.

I have the Icon stage 2 with the 1.5 leaf pack, and like previously said, it keeps the bottom leaf and replaces the others. I think it’s great. I don’t tow anything though, and will likely never tow anything.

Thinking about adding toytec shackles though. Would it work? @Toytec Lifts

have the ICON 1.5 AAL right now on, and was thinking about the CB +1 Shackles. Did you notice the leaf pack got flatter when adding the shackles?

They may have flattened out a little. I only say that because the ICON AAL advertises 1.5" and I think the CB +1 shackles are supposed to be about .625". So together that should be 2.125" but when I measured I was just shy of 2" total. So either the AAL didn't provide the total advertised lift to begin with or they flattened out a little with the larger shackles. But just by look it isn't really visually noticeable if they flattened out.
