I just got finished installing an aftermarket remote start with MyCar app on my 2018 Tundra. I’m attaching some pics that should help others if anybody wants to do this install.

I've done minimal work with wiring, so if I can do it, anybody can. A quick disclaimer, I am not a professional, if you use my advise, it is at your own risk. I can not be responsible for any damage caused by following my pics.

There is a bunch of good information out there, how to take the panels off, where the bolts are, etc, so I won't go into much depth there. Before you kill power, take the 2 Phillips head screws out from behind the steering wheel. I took the negative off my battery, just in case.

Mock up was the key to my success, I could have had it even more organized, but it's all hidden and away from any danger.

The 1st pic is what you will receive. (For the 2018, you will not need the splitter in the middle) Also missing is the ignition adapter, but that was very easy to install.

The hardest point for me was finding the TPMS wire. It is located behind the driver's side kick panel. It is a part of the bottom white plug. To remove the plug, take something small (I used a pick tool) into the drivers side of the plug. This will release the plug and it pulls toward you. I removed the one attached to the white plug to make it easier to work on. Remove the plug from the connector and this is what you should have. (2nd Picture is where the plug is. 3rd picture is the wire you need to cut and attach 2 wires from the evo box. It says red, but looked pink to me, maybe I'm a little color blind.)

That is the tpms connection, only 2 wires go here. I also ran the ground from the evo box here as well. (I think it was yellow with red, but double check.)

The connection for the ODB port was really easy as well. To release the ODB port, just squeeze the outside and it will slide back to pull out a little further.

The most connections go to the connector shown in pic 4. Run all the wires needed here in one run if possible. I rushed my job, if I had it to do over again, I would have organized my wires a little better and brought them all together. Overall, it would have been a much cleaner install. I also soldered all my connections. I used a razor blade to peel back the insulation (be very careful, these wires are very small.) I then used a pick tool to poke a hole in the wires and ran my new wires through the hole and tied them around before soldering. I tested everything before a final solder, it's up to you if you want to do this.

I didn't take any pics of the ignition connector, it was really easy, remove the plug, plug it into the adapter, plug the adapter back into the ignition, then run the ground. I ran both grounds from the ignition and the evo box to the same bolt in the driver's side kick panel.

After dry connecting all my connections and covering them all with electrical tape temporarily, just in case. I tested the remote. I did triple check my wiring, and did make a mistake, so double check your wires and runs.

Programming went smoothly, I did mess up the first time, but just disconnected and tried again. The 2nd time, it went flawlessly.

After testing, I pulled the negative cable from the battery and soldered all my connections, verifying each connection. Then I put tape on them and tied them up as best as I could. I left the evo box out for now, because I got the MyCar app to hook up.

    MyCar info:
Per the instructions, don't install the MyCar until you have it working with the stock remotes. Mine worked and I took it for a quick test drive. The TPMS light does stay lit until you put the key in, turn it on and hit the brake.

The MyCar stuff is attached in pic 5. You will NOT use the top splitter. I had a tough time finding how to connect the MyCar to the Evo box. You hook the blue cable of the splitter in the middle to the cable from the MyCar black box. (Blue to blue connection). The small black cable on this splitter goes to the Evo box. It doesn't feel like it connects and it doesn't really click until you push very hard into it. It felt like I was going to break it, but I did attach a picture, so you can see the way the plug goes in. (The red wire from the MyCar plug faces the cut yellow cable from the Evo box) Like I said, it doesn't feel like it fits, but you have to really press it in.

After you get it installed, program it with the instructions in the email you get. Then, go get the app, register and install it, and it should work.

Again, I am a novice at this stuff, if I can do it, trust me, you can too. I will put up a video later tonight of it starting. I just think they look better starting at night, but trust me, the 2018 works just fine and it's pretty easy to install.

Great write-up, I have been on the fence about this product but may go ahead and pull the trigger now. Where did you purchase your system?

I got mine from a vendor on All Out Tundras on Facebook. I’m new here and don’t know the rules, if it’s ok, I’ll post the link. Remove if not cool.

Did you install the 2way option as well? I knew fortin had the remote start but just found out about the 2way feature and mycar... definitely on the priority list to install. Had a local shop quote me over $1000 for a viper 2way and remote start no gps

Congratulations on your first time success!

I'll take another stab at it probably this coming weekend. I know you don't need it but somebody else may......attached is a pretty good wiring diagram (for lack of better terms) I downloaded from wirecolor.com, it might be helpful for other brand of remote start units as well.

I got the 2 way. It’s nice that I can check status now. Only drawback is it has a slight delay when you press a button. It’s about 2 seconds. If you can live with that get it! So worth it.

I have the two way. On iPhones it’s a little buggy still. It shows unlocked when I know the doors are locked. The countdown timer sometimes works. If you exit the app by going to the home screen, then back to the app, all the options work. The gps is awesome as well.

The two way doesn’t use a phone. It has its own remote that gives feedback etc. it’s called RF kit.

Oh my mistake, there was an option to do an extended remote. I think up to 3000 ft and it has led notification.

Sweet I have the same set up, now i just need the new truck to arrive!

With the my car gps app, can you really unlock and lock it from anywhere? Like miles away, same with the remote start? What if you dont have service?

From my understanding, the MyCar attachment uses Verizon cell towers. So if the truck does not have Verizon service, then it would not work.

I have not tested the range, but have seen others say they have started it hours away. I don’t know why you would need to do this, but I guess you could. I’ve had no issues starting it 1/4 a mile away. It works with the oem remote as well, if I’m close, I just use that.

To anyone that attempts this could you post the part numbers stamped on the connectors if visible? I would like to make my install plug and play as possible. When I get to this point I would rather have some of the connectors on hand before starting.

Not according to their website FAQ's. I have AT&T, but I'm having issues with the 2 way communication on mine. It works, but the app says it failed.

Yes mine gives me the confirmation. What do you mean tie trigger? I just plugged in the Rf kit and that’s it.

I actually never tried that. Not sure if it is supposed to. It’s not an alarm but a keyless entry unit.

I just installed the evo one on my ‘18 today and it went very smooth, however, I seem to be having one problem. Granted, I’ve only tried this a few times since installing, but sometimes it will just simply not work unless I unlock the vehicle, relook, then 3x the lock button. Anyone had this happen? I wonder if my button press timing is off or something?

Wiring money shot. Wound up pink wire is for the hood switch, which I skipped today but left for future.

You convinced me. Ordered it today for my 2018. Can't wait to install it. I had an Evo One from Fortin that I installed in my 2014 Tacoma. I also have the usb programming module for it if I want to change any settings. :)

You may be doing it too fast, try waiting 2-3 seconds between each time you press the lock button.

Many times it is too fast. Simply adding one lock click if it doesnt respond immediately will prompt it for me...
