8F0A3C90-14B9-46F2-A2A2-3AB405768B04.jpg I noticed some oil spots in my driveway and climbed under the truck to find the skid plate soaked. I peaked through and this is the source. Is the cap missing completely or is that how it looks and it’s just leaking. Had my oil changed just a few weeks ago. Just wanted some info before I go back to the place that changed the oil and let them have it.

I would say they screwed up the o rings or not in the correct place.

Yeah that looks like the inner o ring is either missing or damaged

I’m not seeing any oil on the dipstick. Think it is still safe to take the 5 miles or so to the place?

Definitely would not recommend it... Can you do an oil change at home?

Could just add some, but I want them to have to fix the problem they caused. Oil change costs a ton in this to be done wrong

No way would I drive it if you can't see oil on the dipstick.

Called the place. They’re sending out a mechanic to my house to add the oil and check it out.

Depending on how much oil was lost it could’ve shortened the life of the engine now. Tell them you want them to pay for an extended powertrain platinum warranty. 100,000 miles or 10 years.

They came out and checked it and added oil. I drove it to the shop and they changed it, the filter, and all free of charge. They said they’ve had some trouble with different gaskets, and they used a different brand one this time. Just said to keep an eye out for it to make sure this one does ok

Lame. They would be cleaning my entire under carriage. And if you truly didn’t have oil on the dip stick they would be giving me some kind of warranty. This wasn’t a Toyota dealer?

Man, you’re making me nervous with all that. They said there didn’t appear to be any filings or anything to worry about in it. Of course they should say that I’m sure too, but they seemed like honest guys to me.

They did clean up the skid plate for me. And no, it is not a Toyota dealer. There isn’t one in my town, and this was the easiest place for me to get it done with my hectic schedule

how much oil did they have to add? only takes about 1.5 -2 quarts low to not show on dip stick. so you could still have 6 quarts in engine which wouldn't cause any damage in short time like that. just trying to help ease your mind.

Oh man, you just need some slick 50 and then you don' even need oil. You guys remember those infomercials?

Since you caught it before any warnings went off I'd say it is probably ok. I'm sure if it got to a dangerous level there would be some sort of light. Right?

I can tell you this. He had one jug with him when he came to check on it. He added just a little bit and pulled the dipstick and it was on there then. They changed the oil completely at the shop and didn’t seem concerned.

I’m sure you are fine but if this was some quick lube place I would HIGHLY recommend you find a reputable place or do it yourself. I will drive wherever it takes to know my truck is being taken care of correctly. The crackheads and stoners at the quick lubes will never touch any of my family vehicles..

I was pleased the way they took care of it yesterday, but have come across another slight issue and think I’m fine with the place. When the re-installed the skid plate, they did not re-attach the front bumper valence with the bolts. Ugh. Should it go over or under the skid plate?

Anybody know what size bolts and washers I need to just attach it myself, so I don’t have to deal with them any more?

The plastic retainer clips that the screws screw into a really cheap at the dealer. Mine were stripped from the factory. I’m sure the screws won’t be much more.
