UTTUNDRA meant turning the wheel while standing still, not just standing still. Have you tried it?

Sorry homie. I have been more busy than a hooker on nickel night.

How are the coilover Upper mount bolts? All three tight and still in place? I’m sure they are if toytec did the install.

Coilover pop is nothing new, but hard to diagnose at times. I don’t thing you have a problem, other than spring pop. Dual rate coil overs can be a PITA with spring noise, but cured more easily.

So let’s test something out. Have any WD40 or spray lube?

I don't know if RCI could have the same problem, but the issue with the TRD is not that it was too loose. It is that it was tight against the frame, and popping sounds could be heard as the steel frame flexed. The solution was to loosen the 2 rear mounting bolts, and sandwich some high density foam tape between the frame cross-member and the lip of the plate, and then tightening it back down. The difference was night and day. I was all ready to start shot-gunning my wheel bearings and CV's.

    Wash your coilovers off good.

Spray the coil adjustment nut and the bottom coil plate. It may take several applications turn wheels back and fourth several times to work in the WD40. This will evaporate over time, but a good and easy way to tell if your getting coil spring popping.

If that solves the problem, we can discuss how to fix it long term.

Check your LCA balljoints for play. Jack up a side by the LCA and put a pry bar between the balljoint bracket and the LCA and pry a bit to see if the bracket moves.

I’ll add an easy one, do your shocks have a heim or ball mount at the bottom? Your weather kills them fast.

More of a click click click that increases in intensity depending on the angle at which I’m turning. Doesn’t happen when the wheels aren’t turning.
havent had a chance to really inspect due to work and nasty weather but I’m not exactly sure if I found the culprit that I’d even know it. I can install plug and play stuff but outside of that I’m pretty clueless

Sounds like a xv axle or something rubbing the backing plate maybe but that would be all the time most likely not just straight and right

It seems to be quieter at faster speeds but now it’s now doing it turning left as well. The tighter the turn the harder it pops

If this noise is more of a clicking noise, that is not CO spring pop.

If it sounds rotational, it would have to be in the drivetrain somewhere.

It’s less click, more popping. Straight at higher speeds I can’t hear it. Slow down and turning it seems to be worsening, or staying the same but my awareness is much more heightened

My limited knowledge was pointing at CV in my head, but again, I’m not very savy

I’m guessing CV. Similar sound on my Tacoma. Had two go at different times. Grab the cv and see if one has more movement than the other.

Have you tried lubing the coil spring where I ask you to? That would eliminate spring pop.

There is a lot of scenarios that can cause this, and eliminating one at a time is the best troubleshooting technique.

If I can do it. I’m contemplating just hanging tight and checking what you’ve recommended along with the others that have chimed in. That wouldn’t happen until Sunday so I hope the weather gets better! I don’t have a garage to use and there’s a foot of snow in my driveway :frusty:

Chris, I tell ya....it’s starting to wear on me and I’m probably going to making some moves sooner than I thought, and not just because of this

Trucks at the dealership. If CV issues exist it’ll be covered under warranty. If it’s due to wheeling then I might be pinched

They did get me a rental because they said it sounds CV related and I didn’t tell them about off roading :D
