The brake assist function on my 2018 SR5, TRD 4x2 seems to only work with "tow/haul" mode is engaged but not when "tow/haul" is not engaged.

Am I right, or is it more subtle when in "normal" mode?

I just started driving with "tow/haul" most of the time so I am noticing little things like this.

I'm not referring to the "pre-collision" function but the "brake assist" function. This is where you are travelling downhill with the foot off the gas and you are accelerating. One touch on the brakes and the transmission will automatically shift into a lower gear to improve engine braking. On my 2006, it worked all the time, perfectly. It does not seem to work on my 2018 unless I'm in "tow/haul" mode.

It works w/o tow haul. It's just more noticeable in tow haul, like you said. If you're driving in tow haul frequently because you like it better, you might want a tuner. I'm running a Bully Dog tuner and it "woke" the truck up.

Very cool, exactly what I wanted to know. I'm just starting to play with tow/haul, what a difference it makes! I love getting on the freeway, gets the juices flowing. I'll look into a Bully Dog tuner, thanks for the heads up!

There's Dap tune also which is very popular. I can't recommend one over the other 'cause I've got no experience with Dap.
    Here's a good deal though: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/d/bully-dog-bdx-gas-diesel/6483289501.html

Unfortunately BD doesn't have a tune yet for the 2018.

As I just found out after cruising their website. They also indicate that they are not for California vehicles (because of smog regs)...
