I've got a 2015 Platinum and when I put the climate control air source switch to the floor, barely any air comes out from the floor vents even with the fan on it's highest setting. The air also still blows out from the dash vents and it seems like it is blowing harder through those vents than the floor vents. Is this normal? I've only had this truck since Thanksgiving and it's been bugging me lately. Usually, the vehicles I have owned make my feet nice and toasty when I put it on floor vents.

Not sure how the diverter works on these trucks, but I used to have a Jeep that did this and it was caused by a vacuum leak under the hood. Sounds to me like the diverter door isn't working correctly.

I am pretty sure that everything is controlled by small electric actuators like on most other newer vehicles. The actuators receive the signal from the BCM aa you change settings on the HVAC panel. You may have to take it to the dealer and it maybe something as simple as a software fix.

Probably not what you wanted to hear but there just isn't that much anymore we can do because of all the electronics involved.

Mine does the same thing. Barely any air comes out at the feet.
Seems like defrost/windshield + feet combo setting works best for me. Still not great though.
Either we have the same issue, or it’s normal.

Same here on my '10 thought it was the blower motor so I ordered a new OEM unit and replaced it, made no difference..., the HVAC on these trucks is not very good, takes forever to blow hot air in the winter and the AC is marginal in the summer.

When you guys turn it on feet or any setting but defrost, try pushing the recirculate button and see if it helps.

Thanks for the inputs. Sounds like it may be normal but I've got a mechanic buddy at the Toyota dealer and I will see what he says. Ill update the post once I get to the final outcome...

I have the issue of air bleeding through the dash vents when I switch it to the floor. I also get bleed by when I have it off. Sometimes it seems like it's on the low setting even when off.

I spoke to the service manager at my dealership and he said that it would take an entire day if they needed to change out the system because they have to remove the entire dash. He also said that it may be as easy as just adjusting the diverter doors because they occasionally get out of sequence or are a tad off. It can get annoying though especially if it's cold outside.

15 Platinum here also. Same thing. The climate control system in the Tundra is a bit of a POS. The vents are always bleeding air no matter which setting you have it on. It drys out your contacts if you ware them. It has bugged me since the day I purchased the truck. You just learn to live with it.

That's what I expected to hear. I dont want to take it in since it is out of warranty to have them feed me a line of crap to take it apart and look at it and not fix it and charge me an arm and a leg for standard ops.

Mine does same thing. But when I put it in defrost it blows pretty good, but still leaks form vents a little, I usually have it defrost and feet and keeps me warm that’s all I care lol.

My 2018 does the same (dual zone auto HVAC) but it really doesn't bother me much as long as it gets warm and it does. Reading post #8 suggests that the BCM which controls the HVAC can be updated/adjusted via software, my Ram was certainly like that and on a 2001 Grand Cherokee I could access the controller myself by pushing a series of buttons in a certain sequence which would redo the calibration of the blend doors.
I am taking my truck in for the first service on Friday and will ask the service writer about it.

On a side note to @SR5TRDTUNDR you are incorrect because I have the best color.

2010 here, I have found the HVAC air output fairly pathetic as well. Glad to see it's just by design and not a problem. My controls all work, switching the air flow from each designated setting. It just seems like unless you have the fan speed cranked to max you barely get a breeze.

I guess toyota must have something figured out though because I find that the truck still cools off very quick, this is in a hot/humid coastal NC climate.

I haven't had a chance yet to try the A/C since it is cold in Missouri. I do think that the heat works well, like I said I always leave mine on AUTO and 72 degrees both zones.

I don’t have the dual zone HVAC, but I live in Phoenix Arizona and my A/C is very cold and cools the truck down quickly.

That's good to know. Our winter are cold as hell and summer is hot and humid.

I agree that AUTO is the way to go... It tends to put the fan on higher than when I would set it manually.
